Nice work on the bench. No matter what a kid does for an activity parents still have to take the time to drive and sit there. Is your daughter a good singer?? Next American Idol??

Nice benchin’, j-w. Looking strong. What’s the plan for cycling the bench up?
My daughter and I are sharing a “bug” right now. 'Bout to run us both down.[/quote]
I hope you get over the bug soon LS, they are never fun. Thoie little 2 legged cockroaches bring home the strangest things. Next week my bench progression is 200x8, 230x5, 250x3, 2x280x1.

Thanks Eco, The voice teacher says she can sing, so I;m going to say, yes she is a good singer. Music and the arts are her passion. Everybody needs a passion. I’m glad she can channel it properly.
JWilly- It is against the rules to bench more than 250 before 5AM…Nice job young man…a push to 280, I love the gusto! good luck…and you are so right about your daughter putting her energies into good stuff instead of the crap out there.

Yeah. I hadn’t missed a day of work due to illness in over 10 years, until my oldest hit pre-school. I work in a hospital! I should be immune to everything by now!
Looks like a good progression. I can’t wait to see the report! I better get my @ss in gear!
Bench is looking strong, good work J-Willy.
Bastardly brief morning workout: dateline Wednesday, 3:52 am
Rubber band dislocates: 20 reps
YTWL 10 lbs
Kroc rows: 3x90x10
Hammer low rows: 3x90x10
Cable lat pull downs: 3x105x10
Face pulls: 3x90x12
Reverse fly: 3x55x8
Treadmill walk: 15 minutes
I’m a lazy bastard. Someone left the bar loaded with 405 lbs in the floor of the power rack and I didn’t feel like unloading the sumbitch to do any pulling. So off I went to Kroc rows. I do my left hand first (it’s the weakest). My grip slipped on the 6th rep, but I finished all 10 reps on each set with my left hand. Breezed through the rest of my stuff. I wish I had gone to the gym with a better plan this morning.
Spent the day in meetings with health insurers, it cost my company about $880,000 for 125 members in the group. Then it was meetings with bankers and consultants… I cant figure out why the line from the Wizard of Oz kept going through my head, “Lions, tigers and bears! Oh my!”
JW’s morning ponder 12 hours late: If a pig loses its voice, is it disgruntled?
Looking good JW. Kroc rows and all those other pulls will get that grip strong as iron in no time. When 405 is left on the bar at my gym I only have myself to blame.
Bastardly squat day, with some more back stuff thrown in. Dateline Thursday, 4:05 am
Front squat: 135x5, 155x5, 175x5, 195x5, 195x3, 195x2, 195x I can’t do another one.
Hise shrug: 295x15, 295x20, 295x15
Snatch grip hang pulls: 135x10, 3x155x5
Shrug in the squat /lunge thingy: 270x10, 2x270x7
Front squats are a funny critter for me. I really like doing them. My wrists hate me for doing them. I’m weak as shit when I do them. 195 is such a weenie weight for a squat. Then again, My regular squats are weak as shit too. Since I didn’t do all my back stuff yesterday morning I finished off with shrugs and pulls. My grip gave out on the shrugs in the squat lunge thingamadigger,
More rain in northeastern NC. It ain’t wetter, just deeper. The good thing is we are really sold out on hardwoods. Cypress is a different story. Since it is used on high end coastal homes here in the southeast we are sitting on a bunch of f^%king inventory. FOR some reason folks ain’t building expensive ass coastal homes right now. Whats so damn frustrating is this cypress is tying up a lot of money, just sitting… and with no demand… I wanna job flipping hamburgers in a greasy spoon…
JW’s morning question: Did Noah keep the bees in his archives?

Thanks Eco… sometimes I’m ADD OCD when it comes to my progress… especially when it doesnt happen over night… HAHA

Thanks Jack. I’m jealous as hell of your new gym
Jwilly- What are your thoughts on the hise shrugs? getting stronger, trying get a yoke? Productive?

It’s about getting stronger. The big yoke thing doesnt really drive me. I feel my grip issues limit the development in back strength. More rain this weekend. I’m going to be boating to work soon!
I’m with you. The big yolk looks cool, but it is just that much more damned weight to have to carry around.
Sometimes I read your posts and think, “I could’ve written that.” We both suffer from not only not being content with how much we lift, but labeling it as “weak”, “pathetic”, etc… And neither of us have any patience at all, at least when it comes to strength. We don’t mind doing the work, but wish it would front us the strength and let us pay it for as we go.
Bastardly chest morning. Dateline Saturday 3:56AM
Bench press: barx20, 2x135x10, 200x8, 230x5, 280xmiss, 2x280x1
Incline bench press: 2x155x8, 155x7, 155x2
Incline flys: 2x35x12
Tates: 2x35x12
Rev grip incline press: 3x95x15
I’m sure glad I set up in the power rack for my benches. It was a damn good thing, I missed my first try at 280. SSSOOO I shimmy out from under the pins, strip the bar, cuss a little bit and reload the bar. Took a deep ass breath and gutted out a rep. The second single was just as f*&king ugly but the bar ended up in the hooks. Now that I have gotten home I did the week 4 progression not the week 3. 2 things have occurred. Wilson is a dumb f*&k and can’t keep up with his own program, and I’m stronger than I realized. Now if I could only open jars with an easy twist,
For the first time in months I did Incline barbell presses rather than DB presses. I made another observation. Hammer benches are made drastically different than Nautilus ones. I think the way I had to pick the weights out of the hooks for the Nautilus benches really aggravated my shoulders. Time will tell if this is true. Tried reverse grips with the BB. I’ll go back to the Smith. That seems to work my Tri’s more than the barbell. By the way, I was trying for 24 reps on the accessory work.
JW’s morning ponder: If white wine goes with fish, do white grapes go with sushi?
Sweet! Great job being hardheaded and getting back under the 280! Pretty, ugly, up is up.
Naa… Not a dumb f*&k… Just impatient ![]()
Really nice work, j-willy.
JW_ awesome job!! Congrats on hitting 280! And thanks alot…I have to sit through a deload week thinking about this!!! Great work
Nice work, JW. 280 is strong benchin.
Thanks OG, LS,and Jack. It took me by suprise on a couple of levels, one that I came back after the miss, and second the fact I can’t read a damn excel spreadsheet! I think I’ll do 2 weeks atr this progression and see what I can max.
Bastardly back day, Dateline 4:15 am Sunday
Snatch grip rack pulls: 2x135x5, 185x5, 2x205x5, 225x3, 225x2, 225x1
Kroc rows: 3x90x10
Hammer low rows: 3x80x10
Hammer lat pulls: 3x70x10
Wide grip lat pulls: 3x120x10
Hise shrug: 3x300x15
Grip, grip, grip… I was doing 225 rack pulls until my grip failed. Results above. My left grip starts failing on the Krocs after the 3rd or 4th rep. I’ll be stuck with 90 lbs for a while. Nothing to report on any of the other assistance work. I had a lackluster training session today. I slept like crap last night. I only got about 4 1/2 hours sleep. I contemplated staying in bed, but I couldn’t get back to sleep. I’ll have a late night tonight, we are taking part in a surprise 50th wedding anniversary party for my parents tonight. It will be at the beach, so that’s an 80 minute drive, one way. should be a fun night. I’m sure I will not train in the morning.
JW’s morning ponder: Why do we say something is out of whack? What the Hell is a whack?
