Really? Why UGA t-shirts? I knew there was a good reason I liked you…besides the awesome lifting. Unless, of course, you are referring to the University of the Republic of GA.

Tuesday morning workout
Squat in the Smith: 2x115x20, 160x10, 2x205x10, 245x8, 2x275x5
Floor wipers: sets of 15, 10, and 10
Decline leg raises: sets of 20, 20, and 16
I guess I had a rep PR of sorts. For some reason it’s hard to get excited over a Smith squat.
NOW for my rant of the day. It seems my friendly neighborhood Air Quality guy came by last week. It seems I drew the section supervisor. I pulled out my 3,426 page permit that covers everything emitted into the air from burning wood waste to smoking a cigarette. Seems you have to have a permit to emit sawdustt or planer shavings more than 9 feet in distance. NOW some one has seen it fit to measure something called a VOC that is emitted when wood is drying. IN FACT its the same VOC that is emitted when a tree is growing. But somehow this shit needs to be permited. (Don’t worry we have been assured God doesnt need a permit in NC. Which is a different story for the same battle with a different department) SO I have to fill out a log and make a theoretical calculation.
“We kind of think, but we’re not sure exactly what to measure; but if we are right we think its about this much per board foot emitted…In theory that is…Oh Mr JW, you don’t have a permit that allows your employees to fart on the job either, here is another 431 page addendum. Have it in our office by 5pm this afternoon.”
JW’s Tuesday thought: If your EPA Man is unreasonable and lacks common sense, just turn the other cheek… nothing gets the message across like a good mooning. [/quote]
That is just amazing! It is really hard to believe all that they try to regulate. Our tax dollars at work!
BTW - Dad, brother and family just got back from the Outer Banks. They had a blast! I think my brother enjoyed the ocean more than his kids! Next Summer I plan on making the journey with them.

Looks like they were down on the southern OBX, It’s been a big stink up here on the National Seashore and driving on the beach. Hope they all had fun during their visit to Kackilacky.
Tuesday night workout
Bench Press: Bar x 20, 115x10, 135x10, 185x8, 205x5, 225x5, 245x5, 275x3, 285x1, 300x1(PR), 245x6
Incline DB press: 3x55x15
Incline reverse grip press in the Smith: 115x20, 155x8, 185x7
Reverse DB flyes: 3x45x8
WOW, 300 lb bench press PR. I haven’t done that since 1982. I really didn’t think I’d get it tonight. Hel and some others said I didn’t need to sneak up on 295, just go for 300. Well I was sneaking, and then I decided WTF and went for 300. Well, How about that, it wasn’t pretty, it went up. Damn that felt good!
I had the ride home to bask in the glory of my feats of strength. I walked in the door, and the wife told me the garbage disposal is broken …
JW’s thought of the evening: I think men who have a pierced ear are better prepared for marriage. They’ve experienced pain and bought jewelry.
Dayum! Nice work, you formerly sneaky bencher!
Absolutely awesome! Great PR. Nothing like bagging and tagging one of those big round numbers to lighten the world. Well, until the wife steps in to make sure the bliss doesn’t last…
Thanks DCA, and LS. I’m still pretty high on retracing some previous covered ground, albiet 27 years prior.
Wednesday morning workout
Rubber band dislocates
YTWL: 8 lbs
Barbell complex, 6 sets 8 reps each movement (that kind of sounds like a piece of chamber music or a long time on a chamber pot)
Treadmill interval: 20 minutes
Started back with the cardio crap. I hate cardio, but I was beginning to feel like a slacker on conditioning days. Thus the interval returneth… After benching squatting and my complex, when I got out of my truck i was sore this morning. It kinda felt nice in a weird sort of way.
Lets see, I’ve dealt with the EPA, Capri pants wearing suburban Yankee fellas , my brother micromanaging us, garbage disposal replacements at 9 pm (chasing that goat was hell at night, I’m a southerner that lives in a swamp, what did you expect?) and now the bankers need to have a big meeting about lines of credit renewals. Sprinkle in a PR and a shitty week turns into a fairly decent one…
JW’s morning thought: I can remember when riding motorcycles was dangerous and sex was safe
Great Bench…Nice work.
That is Excellent!!!
Yankie’s arent so bad… just dont let us make grits.
I think the boys you spotted bat for the pink team.
Capris? I only see them on tourists- from Europe or pink team members.
Life is different in the big city- I don’t have people I work for I have “clients”
grooming and cleanliness are scrutinized more closely.
yup even in the television world.
Even in the Blue collar world If I charge enough- I have to look nicer.
I wear a “uniform” black t-shirt, dark jeans, good shoes/sneakers, black dress shirt in spring summer black sweater in winter If I am on a location shoot - dress for the weather. The good shoes- make a big difference.
crap shoes hurt your feet when you stand up for 14 hours. Big boots suck on a ladder, or a truck ramp.
cut off sleeve types really dont make it-
When I started to dress nicer- and weeded out the ripped up jeans , shirts with logos etc- I got booked allot more. and got to charge more too, somehow being presentable equated better looking gigs.
Even if I get dirty/filthy at work “clients” seem to prefer me looking neat.
I dont know how my business ever got “clients”
But that is how it works-

KMC, you gotta try shrimp and grits. You will be a convert. No, these cats seemed to be with wife and child, and spoke with a north of the Mason Dixon accent. So I guess that is foreign… who knows any more?
Yep, I know about the clothes thing. No more torn greasy clothes for me either. But I can’t live without my Red Wings. Thats the best steel toe shoe made
Congratulations on the bench PR!
Wednesday evening workout
Rubber band dislocates: 20 reps
YTWL: 8lbs
Powercleans: 115x7, 2x135x5, 185x1
Reverse grip bent row: 115x16, 135x8, 185x6
Lat pull downs: 3x130x8
Assisted chin ups: 4 reps, 5 reps, 2 reps
My meeting with our bankers inspired me to take up some power cleans. They really left me frustrated to say the least. I left feeling like I had left a testicle as one of the covenants for our credit lines, so WTF, why not try and drop one for real…
I might put them back in. I’d like to power clean 205 sometime again in my lifetime.
JW’s evening thought: ‘I am’ is reportedly the shortest sentence in the English language. Could it be that ‘I do’ is the longest sentence?
Sorry I’m so late…but congrats on the 300 bench!!
Nice power cleans. 185 the first time back is really good. You’ll get 225 in no time.

Thanks Eco and mcl. I’m still basking in the ‘glory’. I’m not sure about the 225 power clean Eco, 185 for one was pretty damn hard. The gym owner was giving me the evil eye while I was doing those cleans.
Thursday morning workout
Squats in the Smith: 115x20, 135x20, 185x10, 4x245x5
Floor wipers: sets of 15, 10, 10, and 8
Decline leg raises: sets of 20, 20, 12
I felt like a rep day today. Funny how the mood strikes you when you don’t have any real training program working.
I have some things to clean up at the mill today. I’m going to spend the afternoon and tomorrow at the beach. Hopefully Saturday or Sunday I’ll be back in the gym on my normal routine.
JW’s statement of the moment: My wife keeps complaining I never listen to her …or something like that.
You should try zercher squats. I bet you’d like them. And you don’t need a squat rack to do them.
Enjoy the beach, j-willy. I would love to be there. My poor wife, having grown up on an island (Orcas Island in the Puget Sound), REALLY misses the water.
I agree with eco. I think you will like the zerchers. They are a bit different and really hit me in a different way. Good stuff…

Hijack!
Your wife grew up on Orcas Island? I killed a car there once, about 1991 - A Dodge Dart Swinger. Beautiful place. If I had the opportunity to live there, I wouldn’t leave until the food ran out.
/hijack
Zerchers will turn you into a human Caterpillar jack, no lie.

Re-hijack!
Yep. Was born in CA, but lived on Orcas from 3 until 17. She said it was beautiful, not a lot of modernization (no hospital, major stores, etc…) and full of hippies…lol. In fact, her hippie uncle carved the doors for the town (island?) hall.
Eventually she and I will visit.

Re-re-hijack. You guys really should go. It is great up there. I grew up in Gig Harbor across the Narrows Bridge from Tacoma. My sis and her fam are in a 38 ft. Grand Banks right now cruising the San Juan Islands.
