Roots of Human Morality

Winner. “Reason” - when used as a wholesale substitute for Providence - makes a path to the gallows and the gas chamber.

Show me the reasoning behind sending people to the gas chamber. I’d love to see this one.

Come on Push. This is silly. You don’t think that guy’s brilliant because he’s a genius, you think he’s amazing because he agrees with you. Everyone who is pro-choice and brings up objections to religion is “dull” in your opinion. You appreciate him as an extension of yourself.

Because it was efficient.

An example is too easy - because they are weak, a drain on society, or require too many productive resources to support?

It’s perfectly “rational” to cull the herd in the name of efficiency.

Other examples? How about people who dissent from what is decided is to the best form of government for a society? Dissenters just make for messy non-compliance and encourage others to dissent and screw up all the wonderful efficiencies that occur when everyone “is on the same team”. Kill 'em all, and pave the way for seamless cooperation.

Well, look at that. Google “Reign of Terror” and “Nazi Germany” for case studies. Happy reading.

…in “helping” the “unwanted.”[/quote]

That’s not reasoning, that’s an opinion.

Again, you give me opinon. Show me how it’s supposed to be rational. Go on, in depth.

The Nazis were never rational about it, they were dumb enough to listen to the loudest voice.

He’s an atheist therefore he’s a long ways from being an extension of me. This is why you’re just another butter knife, Olee. You can’t even get this one right.

You do persevere though. I’ll give you that.

Let me spin you a tune, sugar.

You say some of the most disrespectful things about people who are being patient, fighting nice, and not using the same type of derogatory terms.

You know what’s disappointed me the most about you? When I took on the ironcross name for a while and cussed your ass out numerous times, you were suddenly nicer. You needed someone to take a club to your face in order to back down. I noticed that about a lot of people on here, but you were one of the most apparent ones.

Unfortunately, cussing people out and calling people stupid isn’t something I enjoy any more than I enjoy the way you talk about others. So from now on, I will be detaching myself from those who are as blatantly disrespectful as yourself in conversation in PWI.

I for one have never ever called anybody dull or stupid for any reason in these discussions. Quite the opposite. Intelligence and sin are not in any way mutually exclusive. Many of the most brilliant people who ever lived were 200 proof pagans.

So tell me theists, where does morality come from?
