Ronnie Coleman BBing as a Cop?

More interesting to me than how he managed to get his meals in (it’s just not that hard) was how he stayed under his agency’s IA radar considering his obvious steroid use.

This thread reminded of an interview I read by Derek Poundstone(strongman competitor)who is also a cop…

"What is your typical diet like?

I eat 7 - 8 meals per day and try to get approximately 500 grams of protein, 400 - 500 grams of carbs, and approximately 100 grams of fat. While I work, I?m sure to get my protein intake by making chicken puree shakes. The chicken puree starts out as frozen chicken breasts. I boil 2 lbs of the chicken breast in water before work for about 30 minutes. I then cool the chicken and place the four breast (2lbs) into a high-powered blender filled to the 35 - 40 oz line with water. I blend the chicken on high until it becomes a medium consistency fluid that is drinkable (about a minute). Once done, the 2 lbs of chicken and water make about 40 oz of drinkable puree. I drink 20 oz for each of my two meals at work."

Seems to be working for him…
some of the old school bodybuilders that train in the gym i go to drink someting similar only with tuna and milk blended up.
tastes like ass but does the job.
they also mix tinned salmon up with chopped banana

You right! healthy foods never tastes good.

Its also important to note.

You can get pretty big on 3 meals a day as long as you spread the protien out.

BUT those meals are BIG ASS MEALS. You have to be good at eating, so to speak.

Steroids helps with the nutrient partitioning.

BINGO! Nothing else to say, really…

i was thinking the same thing.

at the time “Unbelievable” was shot, he says he had been on the job for 12 years and bodybuilding for the last 10. Depending on his PDs rules, he was most likely off probation by then.

Many PDs submit their MOS to drug testing. But then again, he was a cop in Texas…

everybodys gotta work to live. i have so many friends who blame their poor physical condition on “i dont have time to work out”… r u fuckin kidding me? but u go home and watch tv for an hour after work… i give a lot of credit to people who travel a lot and still bodybuild… time change, being in foreign countries not knowing where to eat, finding a gym… but hey, if u got the drive ul get it done somehow!!

Probation or not, when it’s that obvious that a guy’s on gear people start probing around. If he were using something else that blatantly, recreational perhaps, I’m sure he would have been pinched and at minimum fired long before he ever reached the Olympia stage.

He had to have had someone high up in the department taking care of him.

I’ve read that Ronnie was a full-time police officer for a while and also was a CPA while pursuing a bodybuilding lifestyle/career.

Is anyone here familiar with how he went about getting his meals in while he was a cop? I am preparing for a career as a police officer and wanted to know how he managed to constantly eat throughout the day given the demanding nature of police work and the fact that it is more difficult to maintain a consistent eating schedule with a job like that.

Right now I hold a desk job which makes it easy for me to eat throughout the day. I just pack a lunch bag full of food and keep a jug of protein powder in my cabinet for easy acess to some calories whenever I want. I also can run across the street to grab some food whenever I want to.

also, if anyone else here holds a career with a demanding schedule where you are always in 100 places at once and never get a break, how do you make it work?
Ummmm…just like any other profession…you Pack a big ass lunch and consume when you can. Nothing magical about it.

Ummmm…too bad being a cop is NOTHING like any other profession. Police agencies are para-military or sub-military agencies. There are rules for everything, especially for behavior and appearance. You take ORDERS from your superiors. You just don’t do whatever you want.

Some of us have been in the military and we still made it clear from day one that we needed to eat more often. If you do your job well, few people are going to complain about you taking 60 seconds to drink a protein shake.

seriously, i dont see why this is a big deal. at school i used to stuff these cheap ass microwave pizzas into my bag and eat them between classes in the toilets (wew weren’t allowed to eat in the halls).

Can’t you just do the same at work? Like mr x mentioned ‘i need to go to the bathroom’, take your backpack with you and chug down a high calorie protein shake or a tupperware meal. do this every 2-3 hrs. if you are on the move, in a car or smthng, take a cooler with you in the trunk or back seat or smthgn and during breals stuff it down.

people actually have problems with this?

Have you ever actually known any cops? Because maybe you haven’t noticed, but there’s no shortage of fatassed cops who spend a good chunk of their days sitting around eating junk food, drinking coffee, and talking on their cellular phones. And if anyone tries to stop them from doing it a union rep steps in. If they can manage that, you can get away with drinking a protein shake and taking a piss twice a day.

yea, actually I work at a DA’s office, have family members who are on the job and know many cops. But I don’t know any who are actually bodybuilders.

some of you on here are so quick to log on to make a stupid comment(which you think is witty and clever) that you don’t even take the time to fully read and understand the question.

all I am asking is for tips on how to get a lot of food in me while holding a job that does not allow the luxury of a comfortable and accomodating routine.

if you really want to impress me and show me your bodybuilding savy, give me helpful advice and tell me how you would eat when you are a rookie and assigned to the mandatory footpost for 6 months?

I understand. I hold a desk job right now and sit here eating and drinking shakes all day long. People always makes comments to me about the amount of food they see me eat but no one has ever complained about my job performance because I am good at my job.

Everyone here has already told you what to do. You aren’t me so why would you eat as much as I do?

I drink 3 protein shakes a day along with one solid meal while at work everyday. Has this cleared up the situation for you?

You are making this complicated…for no reason at all. People in jobs just as intense as your own are telling you what to do and you are acting as if it isn’t enough.

There are pro bodybuilders in the military currently (David Henry and Leo Ingram) who managed to get massive while on active duty. Maybe you just need to think more.

 1. Show me where I said I have to eat as much as YOU.

 2. Show me where I am making this so complicated. I never once said that I think this will be a huge problem at all. I never said that I can’t do this and that I’m considering giving up. I already can eat in my current siuation and wanted advice on how to continue to do so under different circumstances.

All I have asked for is some little tips or advice on how to make it work. Pointing me in the direction of the Ronnie Coleman video was a good suggestion and I appreciate it.

I don’t see why you think I am making it complicated. I am not.

Prof X,

do you want me to list what I eat everyday and you tell me if I am eating anywhere near as much as you do?
nyyanks25 wrote:

?

I want you to not have to need to ask questions like this. This is one of those “common sense” things. You do what YOU ALONE need to in order to keep making progress. No one knows your specific situation so none of us can make out some detailed list of options when the truth is it still comes down to YOU ALONE figuring this out.

I eat all day long usually with no more than 3 hours going between meals unless something unexpected happens. I have done this FOR YEARS all of the way through college, dental school, and the military.

That means I have done every possible food choice in that time to see what works and not one person had to tell me what to do.
