[i]Ron Paul is fighting for his political life down in Texas-14. Having failed to gain any traction in his Presidential bid except among a lose cadre of fringe anti-war allegedly libertarian voters, he has had to suspend his campaign two days after appearing at CPAC.
Ron Paul is racing back to his district to battle back against Chris Peden ( http://www.chrispeden.org/ ), the Mayor Pro Temp of Friendswood, Texas.
That’s a shame. I believe he’s the only congressman to have never voted for a tax or spending increase. All while turning down his pension, and refusing to take government paid junkets. I wonder if any other Republican will provide a much need critical view of American foreign policy and civil liberty concerns?
Or sound the bell as loudly over entitlement programs? No matter what folks think of the man, as far as keeping fiscal conservatism alive, there’s no better man currently serving. Yep, what a shame. Hope he can hold on.
I have a hard time believing this story, given that Ron Paul is going to win the GOP candidacy and will go on to beat any Democrat by a landslide and become the greatest President ever to grace the Oval Office. Those guarantees were made around these parts.
That is still the case, right?
Sarcasm aside, it is interesting news.
Question is: how do I contribute to Peden’s campaign?

You should make up some dirt to spread…
Talk about how Paul isn’t a real conservative – keep using the word Libertarian out of context. Talk about how kooky he is – remember, the simpler the better. People don’t usually want to have to think too much before voting.
Also, you should throw the word “unpatriotic” around alot when referring to Paul…people down in TX fall for that kind of jingoism easily.
If you really want to fix Paul’s goose spread a rumor that he prefers OK BBQ over TX BBQ.

Wow - the stock left-wing complaint that when my candidate doesn’t win, it’s because “dumb America” won’t see the “truth”.
C’mon, Lifticus. Given all the ridiculousness you have spouted during the campaign - what with the defense of internet polls to the claim that Paul would be the candidate and be the Greatest. President. Ever. - surely you can man up here at the death knell of his campaign?
And, of course, Paul’s undoing is on him and him alone - even his district may have soured on him, and loved him before you had your weekly conversion to Paul’s brand of politics.

No not really…I am just using the same argument made about voters not caring about real issues.
I have only ever talked about the issues. None of which I find ridiculous…that is what I mean about common folk like yourself not understanding what a real issue is when they hear one. If you don’t get the idea of real money, national defense, or non-entangling foreign policies then I cannot help you. You may disagree with these issues or with the way he would deal with those issues but no one even has the balls to really debate him on the issues. Instead, they do as you do and tout him as a lunatic and a fringe.
It’s sad, really, because he is the only savior of your beloved republican party. You seem to claim conservative ideas yet don’t seem to have the slightest idea what that means. This is coming from one whom you refer to as a liberal.
My reason for thinking he would be a great president is not for what he would do but for what he would not. He would be the least active president ever. He might even be an example for how a president should behave to our future presidents. I can imagine him carrying around a copy of Article II making reference to it anytime he needed to make a decision.
BTW, I am a delegate to the MN Rep Caucus…I guess that makes me a Republican now…

A bald faced lie. You did everything you could to try and convince us that internet polls were accurate and other ones were not, and that Paul would be the candidate and would be the best president in history.
We all read it - why lie about it now?
That made me chuckle.
Another lie - who declined to debate Paul? Who did? No one around here declined to discuss his ideas - and certainly none of the candidates backed down from him.
Seriously, Lifticus - we all know you live in a fantasy world, but you can’t project your lack of reality on the rest of us. We’re tricky like that - and very demanding, I know.
He is - I wish I could tell you otherwise.
Wrong - my Republican party doesn’t need “Black Helicopter” quackbats like your hero. And, I know exactly what “conservative” idea means - I have been interested in “conservative” ideas long before you stumbled on the scene and began trying to lecture people who have forgotten more than you will ever learn about “conservative” ideas.
Seriously, Lifticus - can the empty arrogance. No one is buying it. You were a communist a few weeks ago - now you are suddenly Old Guard on what “being a conservative” means?

I was? If you are talking about posts I made (over a year ago) discussing the merits of economic cummunitarism I can assure you I was never a communist as I have always believed in voluntarism. Nor am I part of the old guard…whatever that empty rhetoric is supposed to mean.
I couldn’t care less about the Republican Party or conservatism. These are just labels used to pigeonhole people. The ideas being spoken are greater than the person speaking them and I think not enough people are listening.
For the record, I may have once believed in the idea of government being the protector of the people but a closer examination of the history of government absolutely required that I reject such notions.

Let’s see - suddenly you begin lecturing on what “real conservatism” is supposed to be (read directly above to jog your short memory)…my only interest in pointing out your previous ideologies is to note that you have no capital to assert your proud position is to tell us all what “real conservatism” is supposed to be.
It’s a classic sign of political immaturity - get interested in the short term of a particular ideology and begin manically asserting that you’ve “figured it all out” and start telling others about their political apostasy and impurities w/r/t to the “true cause”.
What, are you seventeen?
If you don’t care about the Republican Party or conservatism and never have, why are you so desperately trying to convince me what I need to do to save it? If you don’t care about the GOP, why keep pushing your “prescription” to treat what ails it?
You simply aren’t very good at this. You forget what you write from post to post. Awful.
Super - the more interesting question is, what will your weak and pliant mind believe next week?

An 18-year-old Republican’s enthusiasm for presidential hopeful Ron Paul could cost him more than $550.
Cody Hauer has been cited four times in one week for displaying a 13-inch-by-40-inch “Ron Paul Revolution” decal in the rear window of his car. The problem is that such decals are illegal if they obstruct the driver’s view.
“I support Ron Paul, the city police department doesn’t,” he said. “They gave me a DWR ?? driving while Republican.”
Owatonna Police Chief Shaun LaDue said his officers followed the law.
“The political aspect of this doesn’t enter into the equation at all,” LaDue said. “It’s very clear in state statute that you cannot have anything that obstructs the driver’s vision.”
Besides being in violation of the law, Hauer showed disrespect toward the officer during each traffic stop, LaDue said. “He talks himself into a citation each time,” LaDue said.
Hauer said he’ll argue in court that the law violates his First Amendment right to free speech.
“To be honest, I’m probably not going to win, but I’m going to go down fighting,” he said.
Glad you have a sense of humor but writing the word “hilarious” means nothing. You have no argument and never had one.
Hilarious. Hilarious. Hilarious. Hilarious. Hilarious. Hilarious. Hilarious. Hilarious. Hilarious. Hilarious. See? I can make an argument ten times more meaningful than you.

BB,
I’ll bet the good people of his district have taken a more discerning look at this clown.
I would also wager that these same voters are shamed by paul’s performance in his so-called “campaign.”
However, paul will be fine. He’s profited mightily from the gullible during this “campaign.”

Nope. But man, you should have seen all the young people at the caucus last Tuesday night. I heard an elderly lady exclaim, “We’re out numbered!” I just grinned and flashed my RP pin at her. This same lady needed help standing up when we convened to our precinct groups so I leaned in and gave her my arm and I said, “Don’t believe what they say about us.” She was wearing a Romney sticker.
The nanny state is going to win this one. Even though semi-trucks have less visibility than this same car displaying ten stickers Owatanna will still its way and its money. MN is a bitch when it comes to traffic citations.
My precinct got 12 out of 25 votes for Paul and 2 out of 4 committed Paul delegates. Supposedly, MN was a better state to Paul than some of the others.

Zap,
Good find!!! It shows most of the usual characteristics of a moRon: Aggressiveness, scorn for others’ viewpoints, rebellion for the sake of rebellion, and Rage against the “Machine.”
