Romney vs. Santorum; It's ON!

If Rush Limbaugh changes the name of his show to “The Rush Limbaugh Comedy Break” then you might have a point.

Otherwise, no.
HBO, darling, HBO.

And it is “Real Time”.

Dont worry, you are only like a decade behind.

Further trivia, when “Politically Incorrect” was canceled it was no longer on Comedy Central.

I would have checked your grammar in order to find something that was somewhat correct in what you wrote, but there is only so much disillusionment that I can face at one time.

Otherwise, yeah, both are private commentators who opine on politics and make a business of it - Maher uses humor, Limbaugh tends to have more serious editorializing (though he uses humor, too). But they’re the same in terms of the standards they would be held by - which is that of private citizen exercising free speech rights who should or should not be penalized by others in the private sphere who disagree with their speech (via boycotts, etc.) - and if you hold one to a different standard in terms of how he refers to women, then, correct, you are a raging hypocrite.

And it is irrelevant whether Maher has a show on Comedy Central or not - the medium isn’t determinative, the message is. Left-wingers can’t hide behind the familiar trope of “hey, it’s just comedy!”. That get-out-of-jail-free card has been abused far too many times to try and protect the vulgar idiocy of left-wing “comics” who engage in the same kind of atrocious speech Limbaugh engaged in.

Let’s see, K2000 - you don’t anything about media ethics, and you don’t know anything about how insurance works (see other thread) - tell, me do you know anything about anything?
Fail.
Actually Bolt pretty much owned the ever living fuck out of your argument.

Not at all. Corporate advertisers want to make money. The reason they are deserting Rush is because they DON’T support his anti-woman message (she’s a whore, so send me pornography). Nobody wants to be associated with his toxic viewpoint on contraception. Except maybe you guys.
Just saw this - er, not exactly: why wouldn’t Maher’s corporate advertisers be deserting Maher for his equally atrocious comments? They didn’t, did they?

Yes, there are different categories for different commentators. They SHOULD be held to different standards overall. That said, they also SHOULD be held to the same standards of civility.

I don’t watch Mather, mostly because I don’t think he is funny; but if I heard him call Palin a derogatory term that I felt was “over the line” I would stop watching because of that.

Two recent examples that jump to mind are Fluke and Michelle Bachmann. I’ve heard/read things that were WAY over the line about both women in recent months. Say what you will about either woman’s political beliefs, but their political activism should not cause the type of “mud” to be slung at them as I’ve seen read. Those who did so SHOULD be ashamed of themselves. Both seem to me to be “good” women doing what they think is right.

eh, my two cents.

A sound logical way of looking at the situation GL…well said.

It’s called the liberal double standard. It goes something like this, when a conservative says something out of line feign outrage and demand that advertisers abandon them. In other words, go right for the jugular…the persons livelyhood. And when a liberal says something equally disturbing look the other way and pretend it never happened.

There are numerous examples of this.

They’ve been doing it even long before they forced Trent Lott out of his power position for merely trying to make an old man feel good on his 100th birthday by claiming he’d been a good President. And then ignoring comments from people like our out of touch VP Joe Biden when Biden running for President said something on the order of Obama will do well because there are not many black people who look as clean and speak as well as he does.

Good night for Santorum. Bad night for Gingrich.

OK, dammit, I just saw Romney throw Hannity’s football and he throws like a girl. Sheesh.
Yeah, but watch him work the ropes on a sporting yacht. :>

That actually made me laugh out loud TB. But in all seriousness he probably has about as much in commmon with a regaular Joe as our founding fathers had in common with the Joe six packs of their day. And I wonder do we really want a “regular guy” as Presiden?

By the way who was the last “regular guy” who won the White House?

This is a quiz…

Zachary Taylor.

BZZZZZZZZ…NO. Taylor was a decorated military leader hardly the average Joe.

But thank you for playing. And please accept this consolation prize as our appreciation for playing.

Carol tell Mufasa what he’s won…

PLEASE don’t tell me it was Ronald Reagan, Zeb!

How would a Hollywood star (B movies but nonetheless) be a regular guy?
pushharder wrote:
Define “regular guy.”
I’m not giving any clues. Use your own judgement when you answer.
pushharder wrote:
Well then, tell me at what point in one’s political career could “regular guy” status start and/or end.

For instance, Jimmy Carter was once a peanut farmer. Does that make him a regular guy? When he became governor of Georgia did he cease to be a “regular guy?”

(BTW, I have a friend who grew up in Americus, GA and used to attend pool parties as a kid at the Carter’s house. He told me way back in 1980 what a jerk the folks of that area thought Jimmy was)
Agree…because Truman was a pretty “regular” guy…

BUT…this is pretty cool! So don’t give us an answer yet, Zeb!

How many regular Joe’s reach the level of Lieutenant on a nuclear submarine?
