Road to 600KG and Gripper Training

Thanks man, if I could just take your overcompensation for depth we’d both be good lol. Honestly give pause squats a try. Get a video from the side find the depth and adjust to it. I know it’s prob tough as it is for me too. If it were easy everyone could do it

Yep, pauses are my next variation after I strengthen the new ROM with pin squats.

Ain’t that the truth!!

This deadlift session was pretty tough to be honest. All the time spend holding our boy has built up alot of fatigue in my lower back… no joke haha. Gonna try to switch up days to hit deadlifts heavier on weekends and have light/speed days during the week.

Squat
135 x 5

Bench

Tried out wraps for the first time. They hurt like shit! Lol I just wanted to see what or if I could get more out of them. 365 felt like cake out of the hole. On the four plate lift I managed to get them wrapped even tighter and in the hole feels real weird like you almost have to push yourself down. I’m gonna start practicing with these a couple times a month to overload my sleeved squats. The video shows how ugly these reps were lol

Those wrapped squats dont look that bad, just need some practice.

When you going to throw a suit on with rev bands :joy:

haha, I have been contemplating entering a powerlifting competition here in Gatlinburg at the end of the year and the rules there state raw you can use knee wraps up to 3 meter length. Just trying to feel em out, I may start trying to hit a 5 or 3 rep max in wraps once or twice a month. Thinking this is a way to excite the leg/squat training again.

Super burn my lower back quads and pecs and tris were on FIRE!

I’m in. We’re similar strength and both looking at competing. Got my first comp in April. Do it!

Also, that last set of squats of 285x7 looked WAY better. Perfect depth.

As far as wraps, they’re hard to get used to. I had the same problem when I started using em; they make it hard to hit depth. I have to practically dive bomb the descent to get depth, but doing that (for me) makes it even easier because it gets even more bounce out of the hole from the wraps

Glad to have you and good luck on the upcoming comp. I need some friendly competition to give me a boost haha

Appreciate the compliment. Ive bein doing light paused squats and now I’m gonna start hittin more of hypertrophy/higher reps the next 4 weeks to try to grease that groove so to speak. The wraps are super uncomfortable but give a sort of confidence or so it seems. I’m gonna try to use them at least a couple times every month

Reading about all these reps made me puke too

Good work man. I like DL/OHP supersetted. Just goes well together for some reason.

It’s definitely madness lol. Since I’ve pretty much determined two days a week is all I have to lift the high frequency deadlifts and squats kinda go out the window. So I guess now all I can do to compensate for that is hitting tons of volume. One other thing that sucks is that the two days I have fall back to back to each other lol. Soooooo squats for volume followed by deadlifts for volume. Maybe I can hold up for 3-6 weeks and I’ll start ramping down to sets of 5 and 3. But it sure does build work capacity!

Updated my title as well. Ive got 4 months to hit 500, solely because I need to hit 500 before i can reach for 600! lol
