“As the same fire assumes different shapes When it consumes objects differing in shape, So does the one Self take the shape Of every creature in whom he is present.”
Marcus Aurelius
AC: Thanks man, I do hip thrusts on a stability ball I assume you mean with weight? I also do glute bridges a lot, the only problem I have with them is I feel them in my hamstrings all the time! I’ll to start using them more often anyways, thanks.
HR: Haha, yeah I know I was just messing around; I have a dry sense of humor. Thanks a lot for the comment!
Nikki: I know you like that
Oh, you all jelly now? Here’s my secret: I was loving life even when I was in contest prep!
Ink: Thanks a lot for the comment, did some direct chest work for the first time recently and the shoulder is feeling a lot better.

Quote discussion: I like that quote a lot, discuss.
I tend to feel glute bridges in my hammies also, I at least try to squeeze my butt for a second or two at the top.
As for your quote. I’d like to discuss it, but biochem is a calling.
is Self referring to God/spirit? I can get down with the Romans
“Dig within. Within is the wellspring of Good; and it is always ready to bubble up, if you just dig.”
Marcus Aurelius
AC: Giving a try this week!
HLSS: I believe self is referring to yourself, just my take on it. I believe it applies to myself, for instance when I train a conservative Christian my sense of humor and demeanor is going to be a lot different than when I bullshit with some of my other clients who have dirty senses of humor. I have to be a social chameleon of types.

What were some meals you had for contest prep? Basically the same that you have now, just less portions? I’m going to see how long I can get away with yummy food before it’s bland food til the show.
Like tonight, I made Chipotle-inspired food. Lettuce, cilantro-lime brown rice, pinto beans, chicken, salsa picante and light sour cream.
Delish, and I didn’t have to drive for it ![]()
Wow, today was the longest workout you’ve ever done. I’m rubbing off on ya ;D
Awesome! Looks like you had a decent back session haha.
Another great quote from Aurelius.
That’s definitely true. I too am a social chameleon, out of necessity of course. You’re not going to dick around with your boss like you would with your friends…But, I think you can tell a good/strong/decent person by their constants. I realize that people change their attitudes situationally, but are they always “good?” I try to be decent, patient and kind in all my dealing, even though I sometimes fall short.
My ethics prof asked a good question on a related note. He asked, “Is there a higher good?” Meaning, is it okay to break social rules/hurt someone if it will serve a greater purpose. I’ve read several philosophers talk about “categorical imperatives” in which it is okay to cross social boundaries if you’re intentions are good.
I believe (just my thoughs) that intention defines action. Meaning that if you mean well, then no harm no foul. Of course the world isn’t a vacuum, and even if you mean well you can still do some serious damage. I could go on all day, but who’d listen LOL! Good stuff, and I want some damn updated pics Chi Town. And a food log!
wow a front squat and sumo deads pr - I have a lot of catching up to do! ![]()
“Do every act of your life as if it were your last.”
Marcus Aurelius
Nikki: I pretty much only ate oatmeal, sweet potatoes, lean cuts of mean, 2 servings of fruit a day, at least a pound of green veg/day, eggs, and whey protein. I did these foods for three months. Maybe it was long compared to my workouts in this log, although this is the norm for me in terms of hypertrophy training.
AC: Yes sir, yes sir.
HLSS: The road to hell was paved with good intentions.
N: It’s good to have you back!

Gah, I was hoping that you’ll say you had burritos and burgers during prep too. So I can say “Well Andrew did it!”
Ah well…
^names Andrew huh? Interesting…
Gee I hope so. I kind of guessed.
This can be really awkward if I’m wrong…

Nikki: Nope, I dieted for 15 weeks and no real foods for 12 weeks. The first three were to get in the habit of preparing my own food and tracking my macros.
DF: Yes, my name is Andrew – what’s interesting about that? Unless that’s your name also.
Tuesday 2/1: Upper power
A) Flat bench 135x5, 185x5, 225x3, 245x3, 265x3, 275x3*5
B) BB Row 135x5, 185x5, 225x5, 245x3, 275x3, 295x3, 315x3
C) Skull crushers 65x10, 85x8, 105x6, 125x5
D) BB Curl 65x10, 85x10, 105x6*3
Notes: 70 minutes, my shoulder feels 100% the only time I felt discomfort was when unracked the bar. 275 went up relatively smoothly, just needed a slight nudge on the very last rep of the last set. Maybe I’ll aim for a total of 25 reps next week.
Awesome benching man, your strength is cruisin!
