I’m 45 years old using injections of 100ml per week of cypionate.
I am definitely breaking out more from acne under my jaw, back of neck in hairline, lower back and some odd places on the side of buttocks. I am also taking 5 mg of daily Cialis, as needed, which tends to give me a stuffy nose and headaches which causes snoring (my wife hates). Vitamins are D3 3,000 mg per day, multivitamin (no mention of iron), fish oil 5,000 mg per day, Niacin 500mg.
I give blood every 2 months. I also drink Almond Milk Silk from Krogers (2% iron)…should I switch to Carbmaster non fat milk with 0% zinc (its from Krogers, non fat, lower calories 11g protein)? I always heard milk is bad on testosterone though, but my current level is 650 on T levels
The main problem I am having is high levels of hematocrit ranging 53-56. Before starting TRT in Jan 2012 it was 46.4. Giving blood dropped me from 56 to 54. I have only given blood 1 time so far and they say every 60 days from the blood bank.
Giving blood or undergoing phlebotomy is a temporary fix anyway. One that you have no control over. Being limited to E60D is a factor. After you give blood it would take a few days to see a drop in Hct especially if your BP is still elevated slightly. In some people it may be hours but if you took a sample right after your blood was removed there wouldn’t be much change.
I would try gradually lowering the dose. Daily ASA is a good idea. The Hct level you’re at indicated the need for discontinuation of treatment.
The other blood values are necessary for a more informed answer however as without them dehydration factor cannot be included for analysis.
Oh, and try to get 3 BP readings over a period of time if you don’t already have this information.
Eliminate anything with iron…spinach, kale…anything that says fortified.
Watch vitamin C intake as iron sticks to it.
Speak to your Dr. about therapeutic phlebotomy.
It can be done many times within a month to get you back to the lower mid 40’s.
Also ask him about taking low dose aspirin daily to thin your blood.
Longer term, ask to do double red cell donation at your blood center.
Just for clarity of the PKNYs comment: a common misconception of the use of ASA is that it thins the blood. It does not. It merely inhibits thrombosis. Healthcare peofessionals use ‘blood thinners’ as a dumbed down version of medical jargon. Most people might be confused by the term anticoagulant.
What this means is that your blood won’t become thinner by taking ASA but it will prevent blood clot formation in areas of blood stasis, turbulence, blood vessel irregularities, or other coagulopathy(high hct is a coagulopathy)
Thx All. OK, so I feel really undereducated… Is ASA= aspirin? Are we talking 81mg per day or 360mg per day? I assume you don’t want to go and party having more than 3 beers in a day while taking aspirin that same day. Is there a difference between baby aspirin and regular aspirin.? I am 6’1, 235 lbs.
“Longer term, ask to do double red cell donation at your blood center.” Will any blood center do this without a prescription? What do you say if they ask why? I don’t want to tell them its because of high hematocrit levels. That might raise a flag that they won’t take my blood at all. (possibly).
Water intake: How much water should I drink per day? Also, because I need good test results, should I start drinking a lot of water the day before the test, night before the test? How much? I think dehydration raised my levels up as well.
I will take Vitamin C out of my supplements list. How about the multivitamin?
