Rising From the Ashes (CL)

I am trying to talk her into going to a different hospital but, at this point it just starts a fight.

this sounds like necrosis…

How incompetent does a hospital have to be to not deal with this??? !!!

Oh it is.

I don’t know, but they sent a survey letter out the day after we got home. I ignored it because things were VERY hectic. They sent another yesterday. They aren’t going to like what I have to say when I send it back!

They’re lucky to only get a bad survey response and not a lawsuit

That’s terrible. Prayers to you and your family.

My wife had cellulitis a few years back. It’s nothing to mess about with and requires medical attention to fix, like intravenous antibiotics. Good Lord.

You all are going in my nightly prayers.

Hope things start to improve quickly

CL, this level of infection is deadly. You should call an ambulance maybe, and force the issue? Dear God! Necrosis - you must be frantic! And Jed!

Sorry, this is not the calming response you probably want. My stomach is knotting in sympathetic anxiety.

I think the do-nothing hospital is still viable because it depends mostly on which doc you get assigned, but what about the next bigger hospital?

I know, and every time I mention it I get yelled at like a dog. I told her the other night I was going to call the ambulance and got the same results… yelled at. Says NO! she won’t go!!!

Even the people at the hospital said her mental abilities are still intact. Made me pinky swear last night that if something happens and she is " out of it" I will NOT let them take her back to San Antonio.

@DaCharmingAlbino was right, they did give her antibiotics and 10 pills to take home.

I don’t know, in my mind I thought that since she was in the hospital they would be able to knock her ass and clean her legs up. Didn’t happen.

They did successfully put some bandages on there that stuck so when I got her home I had to peel them off and listen to her scream in pain.

I didn’t sign up for all this. This is way too adulty.
I know this will pass… but damn it’s hard right now.:sob:

I did make some headway yesterday that maybe we can do a video visit with her PC. She says she can’t make it to the doctors office right now. Maybe we can at least get her some more antibiotics and pain meds.

I think (I know) she should be on IV antibiotics, not oral meds. I’m so sorry. All I can say is, yell back.

When my wife had the cancer I learned that life does not just kick you when you are down, it mauls you as well. Keep up the fight.

We end up parenting our parents, and nothing prepares us for it. Good luck Chicken, hope things improve.

Whew it’s been a hard week. Mom passed today after THE most horrific way to end this possible. Never in my wild, anxiety addled brain could I have conceived such a dreadful ending to this situation, and believe me, I have thought up some doozies. Holy shit, I don’t know if we need therapy, a stiff drink, or both!

I am sad but also relieved that it is over.

Here’s to another chapter. Not sure I am cut out for this adulting stuff.
