Other than that, keeping the handles up a big and not letting your elbows drop will keep it from crushing down across your collar bones etc
Fuck yeah. Im finally getting bruised shins ![]()
How do i shift weight more mid foot? Thanks man
Thanks mort! It better wanna finally be moving in the right direction lol
Thanks man! Hope i can get my deadlift to be strong like yours ![]()

Epic doms today. Walked 2 hrs 30 with mates back home after a wicked night and the movies. Also ssb lunges are brutal
Regarding DL young Duke
After watching Hogs video it occured to me that the more weight you lift the better the technique gets.
You’re doing absolutely fine.
Do not put to much weight to the bar at once but slow and steady as the weight over time increases so does the form.
Your body will be in the most advantageous position when you lift.
You just brace hard and pull.
Thankyou mort! I have until April next year to increase my strength/Technique/Power etc etc for my first novice comp so lots of time to improve.
I want to win my first comp and looking at the weights from novice comps, i can already farmers and zercher above comp weights so my stones, Deadlift, squat and overhead strength needs lots of improvement.
Oh yeah and gym just got a reverse hyper so definitely going to try those
What I don’t get is how the fuck you have a double BW carry but aren’t pulling at least 300-315 for working sets. I’d assume your lockout is stronger than your initial pull, judging from how much upper back strength it takes to Zercher a lot of weight / carry BW in each hand.
Yeah when im deadlifting i feel like i could lock out anything but i always struggle with the initial pull.
Yeah its quite depressing lol. Well i havent really done much deadlifting/ I’ve just been trying to learn form so i expect it to rapidly go up
Grippers
5×5 with the 1. Got a 30 second hold on final rep of set 5. Next week is 5 second hold on last rep of each set as well as timed hold
Lots of hand bands like 80
Your deadlift will skyrocket once your squats get heavier, because you’re lagging only on the initial pull. Speed off the floor is simpler to increase than lockout strength (notice I didn’t say easier).
That’s something you’ll have figure out on your own. This sounds backwards since you’re hitting your knees, but if you shifted your weight forward just a bit, then your knees would probably be over the bar more. But I think when you pulled they would be able to move back and out of the way.
Think about the different squats. The more the weight is shifted to the mid foot it even front on the foot, the more the knees travel forward.
In your case a tiny adjustment could be all it takes for your knees to get out of the way.
I’ll try to shift my weight forward a tiny bit

Went to different golds gym because sister is staying at my aunties so im there to see my sister for a few days until Saturday. Gym sucked and was really jam packed/small and not much room. Gym was very inferior to the one i normally go to lol
Finished up after bench because sister is sick so wanted to get home. Good bench session
It just occurred to me how to breathe and brace during a loaded carry… i was mucking around with breathing in and out like hyperventilating sorta but not ans keeping core tight and it works. Will see how i go tomorrow. I was treating it like a one rep squat or deadlift but that doesnt work
I was thinking about breathing while lifting just yesterday. I know they say you’re supposed to breathe while you lift but I feel like if I don’t hold my breathe and brace myself by doing so, for those last few reps there is no way I could have done it any other way. But…when you’re not lifting in one spot and have to walk while lifting (something I am very used to doing in my line of work), it becomes very important to keep breathing and become skilled at controlling it. I actually like to try and breathe as deeply and slowly as possible, kind of the opposite but let me know how it works out doing it your way.
Im just guessing here but it came to my mind that when sprinting, one doesnt hold there breath. Its short quick breaths to get maximum speed. I think with a lighter weight carry, for speed the breathing will be fast and quick. whilst something heavier where you’re not moving so fast, will need slower breathing like you said.
@danteism i understand your pain. Im hanging with two chicks right now and one said “You should join the gym with me.” ![]()
