Rise Of The Slaya 2019- Next Strongman Comp prep and fixing my hip

Fat grips pull ups are really great, I actually feel them more in my lats than regular pull ups, also the grip gains are pretty sweet

Maybe that’s because of the added difficulty, the lats have to work harder along with grip.

Could be, back and grip are pretty tightly linked. It could also just be that because the bar is thicker you’re forced to use smaller loads and thus you can focus on actually using your back. So in a sense the absolute weight is smaller but a larger portion of it is moved by your lats.

Whatever it may be, I really like it.

Makes alot of sense. I feel regular pullups alot in my forearms so when i get the chance to try fat gripz i’ll see what happens.

Be sure to report back with your findings!

You should try chins as well, I don’t like them as much as pull ups when done with fat grips but they are pretty neat too

Oh, and try different grips with the pull ups, try a set with thumb over, a set with thumb under, a thumbless set etc.

I’ll give the fat grip chins ago because they are different from regular chins.

i used to be able to do regular chins, then throughout not warming when doing chins or doing stupid things in the gym when i first started, i can no longer do chins without a bad popping/ cracking in my shoulder and elbows. I can develop pain from it too if im not careful.

Pullups are fine though. Also i’ll give the different pullup grips ago too.

Fat grips may help with that, at least with presses and curls they help a whole lot

Hope so, i always felt chin ups in my lats to an awesome degree.

Oh and a forearm pic (weaker arm) just for you. i have no clue how you are supposed to take them but anyway :joy:

I’d take them from the inside when flexed to show the flexor mass, pretty sure that’s the standard if you Google “forearms”

Is it an illusion or do you have damn thick wrists? Jesus.

Well when comparing to my class mates they are bigger than average, but i do have short arms so thats probably why.

Nothing motivates people quite like imminent competition. Train hard and try to learn lots. These tournaments are really good to experience, I’m a bit jealous :stuck_out_tongue:

Definetely a big motivator for sure plus i’m looking forward to it. Also, Today i managed to finally shrimp properly which was good.

I was doing a kind of mini cut to lose weight, because i thought we’d have to do a weigh in. I just found out their is no weigh in so i’ve been a hungry little fella for no reason lol.
