Rise Of The Slaya 2019- Next Strongman Comp prep and fixing my hip

The body cannot be in perfect balance, there is always some left/right deviation. Stuff like quad/hamstring balance is not some thing you can even argue about as there are so many things in effect, and we can’t prove that some ratio is better than other over the effect of how strong that muscle is

If you have “imbalances” that is your baseline. If you fix those and become stronger that is your new baseline and those “imbalances” were holding you back.

Injury would mean a decrease in performance, so if your performance has never been higher, and you can’t prove that you got weaker due to developing an imbalance it is, by definition, not an injury.

So yeah, if your right quad is weaker it absolutely can and probably does hold you back but it is not an injury, rather a hinderance.

This of course depends on definition but I’m going off the most common ones here

Hey Young Duke, time to think about your health.

How important is the meets?
How well prepared are you for the meets?
Do you think you’ll get even more injured going balls to the wall on the meets?

If the meets are very important to you, then you should ask yourself the question: “Am i really prepared for it, or do I feel even before the meets it’ll end in disaster”

If the meets aren’t very important you gotta ask yourself “Am I ready to beat myself up, and even get more injured”

And finally

Ask yourself: “Do I believe that saving money and seeing a pro would help me long term”

You are the only person who can answer these questions.

Good luck finding the right path young padawan.

Theres no competitions for 6 months after these 2 comps (Except for states in december) but I’m no where near strong enough to compete at the state level so thatl be on the cards maybe a year from now. So yeah if I dont compete at these then I will have to wait 6 months

Hmm. Yeah I was confident before my leg got worse but i dont know now

todays training
Deload week but Have had no energy and felt super weak lately. Been going on for like 3 months now and getting worse and worse weekly. That and the injury I almost want to quit lifting

Push press
40,45,50 ×3 now I can barely push press 50, I strict pressed 50kg×15 reps a few months ago.

See a doctor mate. Also tell your coach. Also see a specialists for your hips. Either eat a little shit now or possibly a lot more down the road.

Edit: I know you have trust issues with medical professionals, to which I want to say: Cut the crap! Yes, doctors can make mistakes. Yes, seeing a doctor doesn’t mean you have to turn off your own thinking. But you should consider that those people are medical professionals for a reason. Last time I checked Australia was not a third world country with subpar health care.
A simple example I can give as an argument for modern medicine: As you might know, I’ve had cancer. So did the mother of one of my best friends. She believed in alternative medicine and didn’t trust regular health care professionals. I had medical treatment. She didn’t. I am still breathing. She is not, unfortunately.

This is gonna sound hella insensitive (and it is) but I would truly love to know what type of alternative medicine claims it can recode mutated DNA

I wouldn’t know exactly but there is a variety of “alternatives” to regular medicine. It is a big market which capitalizes on the fear of misguided people.
Well and a bunch of crazys who believe that the stuff they do is helping in some magical way.

I have read an interesting newspaper investigation into homeopathy mit long ago which descriped some of the pratics but you know… It is in German, haha

Truthfully, this should be considered malpractice. A GP could lose their license for attempting to treat cancer, so I find it amazing that there are “healthcarers” out there who, most likely knowing that they can’t cure what they say they can, still attempt to pitch that their methods are “safer” than “big pharma”.

Yech

Absolutely agree and there has been a discussion for stricter laws in this regard in Germany. Although I have to admit I didn’t follow the topic enough to say where it’s headed.

not that i believe in it or advocate it. but i read somewhere that apricot seeds cures cancer, can’t remember what mechanism they claimed. i have an acquaintance who also happen to be a flat earther that dead seriously agreed with the article. he also claims that gravitation doesn’t exist. exactly what you will do with this knowledge i don’t know but i thought you would love to know it.

Science is crazy awesome right now and I believe some levels of gene coding are possible but what happened to Koestrizer’s friend’s Mom is beyond fkt up. That shit is so cruel and wrong.

As cruel as it sounds but it was mostly her fault based on what I believe was her fear of chemo therapy. Now imagine how heart breaking it was to hear that from her son spoken out loud. He called her “choice” selfish because he has a younger sister who was living with her at the time and would’ve needed her. This fear was then probably catered to by advocates of homopathic medicine.
I mean, I have endured chemo and it is gruesome, so imagine you are someone who lives a kind of alternative lifestyle and doesn’t trust medicine to begin with. Now you are faced with the decision to begin treatment but there are countless resources suggesting that alternative procedures to regular medical treatment are just as good or superior. Sooo do you accept the poison from the hospital or go for the smoothies with supposedly natural healing power? There are two really sad parts about this, that I can’t forget. I exactly told my mate that this would happen and that he would need to talk her into treatment and at the time I have blamed myself for laying this kind of pressure in him. And that his mother ultimately came around to accept treatment at which point it was too late and the cancer wasn’t treatable anymore.

I really didn’t want my point to be about the unfortunate passing of my friend’s mum, nor do I want to insult or disrespect her in any way (I hope that point is very clear). Things probably aren’t as black and white as they seem from the outside so I as well as no one else here is in a position to judge.
I just tried to talk some sense into our friend who has in the past made (from my point of view) appaling statements about how little he trusts doctors and I am worried that that might keep him from seeing professionals (regarding his loss of energy over months for example).
