Rise Of The Slaya 2019- Next Strongman Comp prep and fixing my hip

Keep reading and check out the references @danteism shared. There’s been some studies that say it’s nothing to worry about. Just make sure you have balance in terms of shoulder strength.

Do you know when this started?

I remember something popping badly on my leg on yoke like 6 months ago. Over time its gotten alot worse , Then a couple months ago i twisted my left ankle which made that worse and my ankle constantly tight. Then theres something wrong with my left glute and hip flexor area which has been there for a while too. Allthat as well as my left leg being weaker and smaller

todays training
Shit shit and even more shit. Pathetic weak session

Havent made any progress the last 4 months. My first training cycle was great for the first 8 weeks, then it went to shit. Its week 7 of this 2md cycle but honestly I dont think I’ve been eating enough for months

Try holding a deep squat position for 2+ minutes.

Try doing the same with a goblet squat.

Duke There seems to be an ongoing issue here with your squat and clearly it is upsetting you and frustrating the hell out of you. I get that you are young so money may be difficult, but have you actually thought about seeking some actual professional advise from a physio. An initial assessment appointment will be enough for them to give you an assessment of your problem and likely give you a treatment plan to follow. Usually they will want you to come back for follow ups but they aren’t necessary and if you explain that you don’t have the money I am sure they will be understanding.
You really need to find out what is happening and how to treat it or work around it.

Sorry to bring this up again but muscle imbalances are themselves an injury.

Yeah il have to save for some. I already have to pay for my next comp + School graduation +Deep tissue massage before comp

If you really did need to pay for physio, I’m sure you could forego this for a long session with a trigger ball and foam roller. It’s all the same effect, just might not be as targeted

Would you like to elaborate? I don’t see how that would ever be the case. (Let’s try to keep this shirt so duke’s log doesn’t turn into the great injury war)

First we would have to define what injury is. If we define injury as damage to the body (so torn/pulled muscles, slipped disks etc.) that hinders your performance, which is usually more or less the definition of injury, “muscle imbalances” are not injuries, as there is no damage and your performance has not dropped from it’s baseline.

Doesnt help. I went to the massage and they really dug in to all the areas and it helped alot. I cant release the muscles by myself e.g them digging into my abs and releasing hip flexors

@duketheslaya what is your plan to maximize the outcome on your pending strongman competition? is it the competition still within your cards you think?

At this point my performance is going to suck. I’m weak right now compared to where I was 3 months ago when I front squatted 150kg. I then have a competition 1 week after that comp. So I have to comps in the next 5 weeks.

Shit. Deload deadlifts but hip flexor just feeling shit/glute/psoas is super knotted and then I got pissed off because I couldnt use my left leg. My right leg got a pump so I got pissed off and left. Feel shit anyway. Its deload week so I have to do something fast. I’m really fucking depressed over this shit.

rough deal with expected subpar performance in the coming competitions, you got to turn this into some kind of win for you. make it an investment in the future.

I suppose. Maybe il just ignore the injury and still train insane so I can perform as good as possible at comp. Like how today I got pissed off and left because of it.

injuries are part of the game. some of your opponents might just battle injuries too (to or too?). idk if training insane while injured is the best idea, but trying to keep as much strength as possible while not making things worse, how about that?

Yeah that’s true

I suppose. Anyway it’s super depressing so I need to stop being depressed and focus on my competitions.

my guess that is what a champion do, not that i am a champion

The body isn’t meant to have muscle imbalances so that absolutely is damage.

If you are training with imbalances there is no way to know if you are off your baseline or at maximal output.
