Warmup: Machine rows, foam rolling, lazy lifter
front squats
Program said 5×2 %75%. Yeah that wasnt happening today, it was either i do max reps or max weight and i chose wisely and did max reps. YOLO. I said to guineapig i should have done 15 reps the other day so i did 15. My biggest regret is not doing 20 lol. Also front squats felt awesome in my olympic lifters.
2×2 70kg (after this i was like this is so easy i can’t handle doing this today😂)
70kg ×15 pr
daily deads
I forgot to do them in my warmup so i did them after front squats

Grippers
Shit grippers session. Cant even close the #2 with my left still. I feel like I’m making zero grippers progress so I’m going to change it up completely. Also apparently assisted closes have been useless as well
@FlatsFarmer i cannot figure out how to set grippers, ive watched a few videos and i keep trying to learn it but it’s not going well. Currently this is how i usually hold grippers:
my gains in the grippers come super slow. how often do one dare to train with the grippers, i do like once per week in order not to fok up my hands,
Are you left handed? Or just taking the picture with your good hand?
Anyway, think about what you’re trying to do when you Set the gripper. You just want to get that thing deeper in your hand. Basically you want to get your pinky wrapped around the “far” handle and you want the “near” side to be jammed into the middle of your palm instead of resting against your thumb meat.
You’re starting like this

Now grab the Spring(like the top of the gripper) with your off hand. Twist the Spring to “turn” the gripper into your hand. As you force the gripper into your squeezing hand by turning the Spring adjust your squeezing hand. Get your pinkie around the “far” handle.
When you close your hand your fingers kinda curl around your palm. If the gripper is “flat” in your palm you can’t really squeeze it properly. When you get your pinkie around the gripper keep twisting the Spring to turn the handles “into” your palm and “out” against your hook-like pinkie. Keep adjusting until you get that thing buried in there.
What grippers do you have? From what I’ve seen you only have the trainer. You get to a certain point where you can’t really progress on one gripper because you’ve porgeessed so far already. From what I’ve seen you’re getting 20 reps so you should easily close the 1
yes, i have the T and the 1.5. i’m nowhere near closing the 1.5 and i have closed the T for 20, but usually i just get like 5 to 10. thought of buying the 0.5 soon.
Yeah i was taking the picture with my good hand. Right hander life lol
I must be incredibly stupid because that is an excellent description. I keep trying and failing so I’m going to go to bed and re try tomorrow, i can already tell this is going to take alot of practice
Buy the 1, it will help you in closing the 1.5 more than the .5 will. There is really no point buying the 0.5 considering the gap between the trainer and 1 isn’t that far.
idk, my hands are inherently quite weak, i have been clamping the T for 18 months with very small progress, doing big jumps then doesnt to me sound like an optimal strategy
Has the clamping been done with intention and consistency or mindlessness and on/off motivation?
When i first bought the #1 i could close it with ease. I was closing the trainer for around 20 reps then i think. It really isn’t a massive jump. A massive jump is the difference between a 2 and a 3. Buy the 0.5 if you desire to but this is just my personal experience.
Yeah, you can’t train with grippers mindlessly like a zombie. You have to approach it like a regular gym session
Todays training
I hate bench so no more benching.
Thursday is going to be shoulder/Triceps hypertrophy day instead.
Trap bar overhead press
4×8 40kg
leaning laterals
5×20
Single arm press downs
5×12
Band pull aparts ×100
Figured out why every single training session sucks on a Thursday. Grippers fry my cns. Wednesday is supposed to be a rest day but doing grippers is quite fatiguing on the cns.
I think I’m going to take a break from grippers for a while and put a focus on thick bar work. I’ve read around that 1-2 months break and alot of thick bar work during that time helps.
i have to agree with duke here, it’s just not possible for me to clamp the T at all without intent and focus.
