He’s right, and it’s sad. Other “high crime percentage” (not sure of the term) ethnic groups (thinking hispanic here regarding their high percentage residence in slums) also have problems with gang violence, etc. but their repeated ethic is “family” and “work”.
It’s saddening and ironic that post MLK–one of the greatest leaders of the last 100 years and a clear thinker with a large heart–large swaths of black citizens have finally bought into the identity that the white slave owner of 150 years ago wanted them to–“savages” with “street cred” as Barkley’s quote shows.

Korean store owners took that very opinion during the LA Riots. They took to the rooftops to protect their businesses and theirs were the only ones spared from the looting and destruction.
I wouldn’t like my odds in a civil trial.

Given that most of them were immigrants who really couldn’t give a shit about whether a random black guy who looted their store lived or died, it makes sense.
