Right Foot, Left Foot

I would never think that, Lord knows I need help.

 1. Joint mobility…Kmcnyc already covered that.
working on it

2.Squat with your hips and not your legs.
Totally need help here, will certainly focus on this more.
3. At your height,I would make sure the bar placement is as low as possible so that the torque is reduced on your back and helps to keep your squat from becoming a sumo good morning.
My normal squat is low bar, it’s hard to see at that angle. I tried high bar and thought it would help, it didn’t so I’m back to low bar.

4. Really focus forcing your butt back when you squat.
Did you see my question about going a little heavier to improve form? When I use this light of weight, little things like this slip my mind because 185 isn’t really that heavy and I’m so focused on forcing my butt down I forget to go back first.

5. Hamstring … hamstring … hamstring strength. Work the hell out of them.
NOOOOOOOO!!! j/k I hate working hamstrings but I man I really need to do them more. Guess I’ll add a few romainian deads next week.

I had been doing box squats and thats when I got called out on depth, really that’s what started this obssion with depth. I should post the original video for everyone to point and laugh. I really like doing them and was getting out what I wanted, might just drop the depth issue and go back to what I like.

Thank you so much for the help, I hope that by quoting everything I don’t come off like I’m trying to be a know it all or not listening because I am listening and will work on everything.

Before I forget, regarding box squatting. I find it a good tool for learning to squat back. But for myself I found two disadvantages.

For one I found that at meets I found myself looking for the damn thing going into the hole. Also I found that
I lost the agility to utilise the stretch reflex while squatting.

That’s a problem I had after doing them, not in a meet or anything but the first few times I free squated I kept waiting to touch the bench.

Didn’t get my feet far enough behind me on the last set of bench so my ass kept coming off a bench a little so I can’t count it as a PR but it’s kind of a 1 rep PR. I should have stopped and reset but I thought I could “fix” it on the fly, nope. Excuse the belt, didn’t want to take a chance with my back being so sore.

Ahhh thats a PR, nice work!

You girls and those little dogs. Don’t tell anyone I said this but Yorkies are pretty cool dogs.
LOL
Honey-bun made a debut during my handstand vids. I won’t post the vids so as to not derail, but my Youtube is xyaxyanne. The other peeps in my log loved her lol

Awesome benching. It is hard to reset when in the middle of a set, and for bench there’s like a checklist of stuff for form lol
Great job though, I’ll count that as a +1 rep PR.

Dday, just catching up, nice deads, 390x10 is awesome. I’d count the 235x5 as a PR, may have had the butt come off but it looked like you had no problem with the weight.

Thanks guys, didn’t want someone to call me on the butt up thing. Since everyone seems to agree 1 rep PR it is, yea!

Thanks CTL, I’m still paying for those deads, lower back is still sore. Supposed to DL again tonight, probably won’t pull instead do stuff that protects the lower back, chest supported rows, pull ups etc.

Man I really wanted to deadlift tonight but knew better, doesn’t suck any less.

Chest supported rows
135x5
155x5
185x5
210x3
235x5ish

Band assisted pull up
7-3-3

fat boy pull ups
2x10

V bar pull down
5x10 ramped

curls
NxY/3(Y-X)

Kept my lower back safe for the night and hopefully be healed by next time.

Diets kind of suck lately, not cheating just not eating as much as I’m supposed to. Work has been stupid busy so I’ve just had to do my best but more than once this week I’ve skipped meals. Haven’t ran in soon to be 2 weeks if I don’t get to Saturday. Really want to push the prowler but that hasn’t happened either, next week deload, pushing the prowler until I puke.

Good thinking not DLing tonight =D

Awesome training.
I’m losing my diet mojo too. Eh.

Thanks Nikki.

Really wanted to do deads, for once I listened to myself.

Once work gets back to a steady pace, the diet will be back to normal.

Nice work- pressing was solid,
Chest supported rows too

That’s a very sensible decision dday. I’ve ignored this in the past and ended up injured. It’s not wise to lift with a fatigued lower back.

Nice lifting in here.

Just caught up on your log. That took a while. Great work you’re getting in.

Congrats on the weight loss and the bench PR. Are you sure your ass was off the bench? Not that it matters (ass up + not in a comp = no problem). You were still lying on a bench and pressing the weight. I went through a bout of the same. And I am sure that I will again.

The deads were awesome. 8-10 reps at almost 400# is stout.

Doesn’t look like you have any gray/silver in your facial hair. Just fyi, silver/gray is worth about 20# on your upper body 1RM and 40# on lower body. Of course, just sporting the facial hair has added at least 10#.

Great work. Keep after it.

kmcnyc- thanks you, it’s coming along, especially for being on a diet.

Thanks Brett, I’m really glad I didn’t pull last night my back is still a little tweaked. This very back issue is why I avoided deadlifting and stuck with rack pulls. Gonna give real deads another month but no reps higher than 6 with heavy weight. If the back problem persists go back to rack pulls.

Strick- thanks for reading though and the complements. Keeping up with all these logs takes some serious time, I try to keep up but can’t always make time.
No silver yet, my dad didn’t get gray until he was in his 40’s so I’ve got a little time. Certainly looking for those gray hair bonus numbers though.

Military press Friday

Warm up
Foam roller
shoulder mobility exercises
broom drill

125x5
145x3
160x1+5 push press

DB shrugs
70x3x20

over head tri extensions
4x15

I’ll just say this, everything was freaking heavy! Had a hard time getting 145x3, 160 was really tough. Seems that pressing is seriously effected by my diet, more so than any other lift, wasn’t that long ago I got 185 with just the slightest push to get it started. Over all I’m happy with my effort.
Counting down the days until my training partner stops showing up, it’s a good and bad thing.

Aww you’ll be done dieting soon and strict pressing cars =D

^You’re right, a few more months and it’s back to real lifting.

Nice.

I’d say you should lower your pins one hole. Hitting the safeties at that level would probably be legal depth for you.

Are you saying hitting the safeties at their current level would be legal or down a pin? Thanks for stopping in.
