My brother was telling me that a good source of carbs for post work out is single grain rice cereal for babies. Has anyone ever heard of this and why it is good? I can appreciate a couple of rice cereal’s qualitys. First it’s cheap as dirt. Second it will mix VERY easy with water. Plus half a cup will give 24 grams of carbs. Can anyone elaborate on this.
Steve. I often use various simple puffed cereals for my first PWO meal (while bulking), this following my immediate PWO Surge of course.
I mix it up, puffed rice, wheat, millet. The reason it is good is that it is a simple carb, HIGH GI and II. Refilling those glycogen levels and spiking that insulin once again to shuttle nutrients when your muscles need it. Also it is just damn good mixed with Low Carb Grow!.
There is also very minimal processing to take away the natural nutirents and such. It is pretty much just puffed whole grains. Not those kiddie cereals that are processed and corn syrup/sugar coated.
