Thyroid levels come back fine, however reverse 3t was high. What is the cause of this and does it really matter? Will most doctors just say it doesn’t matter?
Saying you Reverse T3 is high is pretty vague. As for does Reverse T3 matter, think about it for a second, if Reverse T3 levels are inconsequential, why is there a blood test for it?
Believe it or not everything has a purpose in the body, it’s not some phantom hormone that doesn’t do anything. You get sick and your body creates Reverse T3 so that you’re not pumping iron in the gym as your body is trying to fight an infection or virus.
My Reverse T3 was elevated because of insulin resistance, insulin resistance slows down other metabolic functions.
Google “stop the thyroid madness”. Reverse T3 matters.
I have high reverse T3 (but normal total and free T3 values). I even began “treating” it by taking T3, but only for a day. After a lot of research I became somewhat skeptical of its importance. It seems like the only source that says R3T is a problem is that website “Stop The Thyroid Madness”.
