I was speaking to the girl at the Ortho Dr’s office setting up my appointment for Thursday (I’m assuming they will be doing an MRI) and she asked me how I injured the arm.
I told her I was in the gym last night and was doing cable flyes.
She giggled and said, “Gainz”
I laughed for like 30 seconds before I could talk and then asked, “did you just say ‘gainz?’”
He ruptured his biceps tendon and had surgery yesterday morning to repair it. He sent me a text and said all went well. I wanted to be long distance training partners and all, but he didn’t have to copy my surgical procedure first!
OK, y’all - I had a biceps tenodesis and shoulder arthroscopy on Sept 19.
I started PT yesterday and will be going 3x / week for 6-8 weeks.
Supposed to be cleared for active movement (against air/gravity only) next week.
Have an follow-up appointment today at 1:30 with the surgeon.
Didn’t have to take any pain meds, just taking 600mg Ibuprofen for inflammation 3x/day.
My PT therapist is already mad at me because while I’m wearing a sling, I’m kinda using my right arm anyway. I’m not a very good patient.
Anyway, long story short, I’m back on the rehab train to get this arm right. Good news is that they did some more arthritis cleanup along with cleaning up the original tendon insertion debris in the shoulder while they were in re-attaching the biceps tendon.
Sorry to hear about your setback but I guess it could be worse. I’m actually at the ortho right now to have my mri read. When I had my initial visit he wasnt able to tell me anything other than confirm the weakness in my right shoulder. I should know here in about 20 minutes what my fates gonna be. My biggest worry is nothing has changed at all in two weeks. I haven’t regained any strength at all overhead on that side… I’ll let you know. Thanks for asking
I noticed it the day after doing a tough shoulder workout followed immediately by pitching a bucket of baseballs to my son. I felt nothing that night but the next day it wasnt right. Still waiting… I guess they are looking at my CD
So good news for me as well I think. Dr thinks its a pinched nerve. Rotator cuff looked intact. My cervical vertebrae are starting to become compressed and possibly pinching a nerve. 10 days of prednisone and 6 weeks of pt with neck traction. I’m just glad it isnt torn.
ha ha… yeah he’s more dedicated but less focused… when I get going, I’m a little OCD and don’t program hop much… He’s way more knowledgeable though so maybe he knows something I don’t.
I just need to do a program for aesthetics and not worry about doing heavy stuff anymore.
