Return of the Marine - CDMac's WTF to do next log

Congrats man, quitting that stuff is tough!

man, still in the very early stages where any little thing may be my undoing. I quit for 3 years once and then started again…

Wish I had never tried anything with nicotine (cigs, dip, etc.)

I hear ya. My roommate is/was a smoker, has tried quitting several times with no success but most recently he’s been a month smoke free. Seems like this one may stick for him.

I dipped when I was younger, had a bad hangover one morning and the sight of my tin made my stomach turn. Tossed it in the trash and haven’t had any nicotine since. Lucky break there.

4-11-11 was the day I quit chewing. I’d quit two or three times before and let myself relapse when I became a Trooper. It also didn’t help that my dad and big brother dip.

I had more trouble with the habits/routines than the nicotine. Have a solid meal–dip. 20 minute drive–dip. I’m sure you know what I mean.

Good luck and stay strong!

I know the feeling of trying to drop the can. Maybe not to the extent of your time doing it but I dipped from high school all the way through college (about 9 years). My wife would give me grief about it constantly so I just stopped one day (November 2012). It was absolutely terrible the first few weeks but it gets better. The smell of it now makes me sick. Hang in there you got it

Sounds like a pretty vicious illness huh? Get better soon my man.

it’s been freaking crazy. I’m normally one to have a day or 2 running nose, cough and my wife is the same. This thing forced me out of work 2 days last week and I’m still not up to par. She got it last Thursday and she was out of work until today.

We’re on the mend but holy hell did it kick us in the jimmy.

Thanks, Duke. I feel like I’ve taken a few steps back so I’ll have to work my way up but hopefully I’m back on track.

NOTES:

  • “The defense department regrets to inform you that your sons are dead because they were stupid.” Goose ~ Top Gun 1986
  • I think my ego got the best of me today
  • tried to do “catch-up” day by doing both OHP and DL but this was a mistake
  • brings to mind the quote above from my favorite movie
  • Never should have tried to double up; especially after doing squats yesterday and just getting back after the nasty flu
  • Live and learn:
    • What does not kill me makes me stronger, right?
    • Pain is just weakness leaving the body, right?
    • I certainly hope this “mistake” in judgement will ultimately be a positive in pushing me forward
  • Will do light conditioning tomorrow as is normal for a Wednesday and hopefully recover from today
  • Today, 330 DL was HEAVY. Had a struggle breaking the floor on first rep

I wondered what you were doing with deads after OHP. I thought maybe you changed up your template until I read your notes.

Oh, well. Live and learn.

I’m in for this.
Solid lifts and I like 5/3/1 too.
BTW back in december when you did your DL 3 RM, post nr. 221 did you notice the chick mirrin in the back
Had to see that a couple of times … she just thinks wow what a MAAAANN…
Hope your TM is spot on, looks like it.
And that Harley is awesome man.

  • 8 reps of 205 felt smooth and strong
  • stopped here so I didn’t miss and have to dump weights again like I did last bench session

    • seems like my chest, back, tris all settle in after that second or 3rd rep
    • I’m not super explosive out of the hole but smooth and controlled
    • feels like I hit my power stroke about reps 4-7 or so

I’ll be taking some more soon (maybe tomorrow’s squat session)
