Return of the Dog Pound

I vote yes, for the sake of the reading material, it’d be good for us newer lifters to have an intelligent source of information.

Obviously, i wouldn’t get in, seeing as my numbers are still low, I’ve been a member 5 months, and i don’t even have 200 posts yet. i’m lean and in shape! hahah. but too lean.

When i first read this thread title i was like…when did dog pounds get outlawed in the first place? What have they been doing with the strays? THEN i promptly felt like an idiot upon reading the OP’s post.

I vote Hell,yes.

i vote hell yeah!!!

I’d be interested in reading what the hardcore BBers, and the knowledgeable vets say in the Dog Pound.

My vote is for it.

Another “Yes” vote.

I’m not a bodybuilder, but the vets here who are would definitely benefit from the concept. I just would like to be able to read and learn from the exchanges between the serious-minded folks without having to wade through all the BS from arrogant newbies and other emo-fags who need a fucking reality check.
Well stated. I second this.

Another yes here

I’d vote yes. Sure thing.

“Elite” or “special” sections and/or groups seem to always be divisive in this type of format (i.e.subjective “picking” of who would belong).

I’m not for it.

I have always been more for a paid Membership section, with special privileges, open to all, whom have shown a commitment to the site by some formulae that takes into account participation AND “level”?

(Believe me; a few dollars Membership Fee ALONE will NOT deter a determined group or groups of Trolls).

Mufasa

By the way, I use the term “formulae” so that our overseas Brothers and Sisters, who are hit with high tariffs, taxes and shipping charges, can be fairly factored in.

Mufasa

YES!

I would love to see some of the vets talk about topics that would probably help ALL of us.

Bushy said yes …
All one needs for a quality forum ^^

Professor X should decide who joins.

Shot calla.

I’ll be down.

You are ugly.

I know, it was a lame putdown.

If my opinion is even worth anything here, I vote for it.

I know I won’t get in, but I at least want to read the stuff. That kind of knowledge is important.

While this is more likely to happen due to the fact that it might increase marketing, it’s a stupid idea in general. It would be just as difficult to make said “formula”, and The whole point of the Dog Pound is to let only the elite in. Which your idea voids.

I vote ‘no’.

Sure, there’s lots of annoying (newbee and troll) folk here - I guess that’s just a fact of life on the Internet. But by retreating of the more ‘serious’ members into an ivory tower, don’t you think that overall standards on the rest of the boards will drop even more?
Actually no. The rest of the folks are still allowed to read, they just can’t post and therefore can’t annoy and clog-up good threads.

I must say i love the democratic format this undertakes. Truly demo kratia- rule by the people.

My personal feeling is that there are a whole lot of threads that are redundant questions that have been answered in an article (and are no longer conjecture) or can be answered through a simple search.

When I started reading here back in the T-Mag days, I first got hooked on the Atomic Dog’s, I went to the archive and read every single article available. Then I lurked the forum for about a year before I posted (reading diff coaches ‘ice lair’ and the like).

Mostly because everyone who posted seemed so damn smart I thought they’d rip me a new asshole if I came with some shenanigans.

Not saying that it in anyway makes me better than anyone, just more informed. And I feel like those who stumble onto the site now need to go through some threads or a basic newb article or something so they can leave room open for basic discussion.

I was for the Dog Pound as a resounding yes previously because I wanted to get back to that kind of a time.

I would endeavor for you to consider that perhaps the solution isn’t gathering the foremost minds of T-Nation all into one “ivory tower”.

But perhaps a more libertarian view of making ALL the minds of T-Nation stronger.

Perhaps combining a few coaches to go through a series of articles, “The Newb Guide” and focus on what they actually agree on, and grind the basics into them. Have it as a sticky in each thread, or even send it as a message to everyone.

Ivory tower syndrome just leads to more potential issues in my opinion.

 • With a select elite few, how busy would that forum be really?

 • How busy would the other forums remain?

 • Would this cause the death of the forums all together with the more intelligent minds resigned to post elsewhere?

 • What criteria makes someone an elite? No matter how fair you try to be an exclusionary policy is just that…exclusionary.

It raises a lot of questions that for everyone who gives a resounding yes, I would implore you to reconsider.

If there are those who feel fed up sifting through misplaced egos and keyboard warriors, just saying “fuck it” and running away isn’t going to solve the problem. They will still exist.

T-Nation(T-mag) to me at one time was like a beacon of light in a world of bodybuilding filled with misinformation and blatant lies.

Don’t let the light fade away.
