Just thought I’d drop in and say welcome. Good the way you’re working through and around your physical problems and not using them as an excuse.
Drop in any time Hel320, its always nice to read new posts and see others actively participating!
I was reluctant to do this but, the wife was pretty adamant about it - she is always pushing me into this IT world…
I have always loved lifting. Between it and Martial arts I have enjoyed a good 25 years of being active - though, I was going through so much pain dealing with my handicaps - dont get me wrong, I went through some major depressions dealing with losing alot of usage from my right arm (dominant arm)… But, I refuse to lay down and let life pass me without having some enjoyment.
In 2000, I went through a bankruptcy, major nasty divorce of a 20 year marriage and the loss of my right arm from a butcher/surgeon! But, in 2005 I married a young beautiful and supportive woman, Roxanne, got focused on getting back into shape a promotion at work and bought a new car!
Then in 2007, I was discriminated at work, illegally demoted, my wife (who is active Navy) went underway/deployed to the hot area in Middle east, I had double pnuemonia 3 times (hospitalized for weeks twice), couldnt ride my harley and was told I had lung cancer!
So, here we are, in 2009, I have retired early from Post Office, cleared from having lung cancer and am focused on getting myself back into living life rather than dealing with what life gave me.
My wife and I are now enrolled on 2 different softball teams, are actively engaging the gym together, I am back to riding my harley and after 4 years of living apart we now share the same residence! Life is good…!!
Today the wife is at work and I am catching up on here, then tonight we will be back into the gym!
I love you grizzly bear!!
you rock in my world babe, nothing will keep you down!
mmmmmma
Hit the gym this morning while wife was at work to get my back routine in before we do her routine of legs tonight.

Sunday is a day of rest!! Man do I need it!! LOL
YES!! ITS REST DAY!!! LOL… just had to show my excitement and NEED for a rest day! Tomorrow is my measure and weigh in day… but the rest is awesome and I am enjoying it! LOL…
Way to go, your a beast my friend (well hopefully not coming across as too ghey LOL).
Great inspiration us all and with myself as a 50 yo in June and telling me to step it up, very impressive numbers and with physical impedances. (no way was I saying limitations cause you sure and hell kicked that to the curb).
Glad you stopped by and posted, looking forward to seeing your progress with the fat loss and all.
Take care and lift heavy ![]()
We measured out today, I lost 7lbs - down to 220lbs, dropped 2 inches off waist, gained .5 inch on chest and 1 inch on arms!! oh yeah, Feeling good about it… didnt expect to gain anything, just loved the fact of losing 2 inches off waist!!! Body fat down to 26.5 from 29.2 (caliper tested)
Tonight starts with tone workout teaming up with wife…! I hate cardio!! aauughh… lol… well, gotta do it… softball starts here soon - that will help!
Good going on the improvements. Saw on Skid’s thread where you’d been worked on at David Grant Med Center at Travis. They did some work on me there, too.
sorry to hear that hel320… hope all came out well for you… your photo looks like your pretty solid…
well, I did the 20 year old stupid stunt yesterday, yeah, was feeling invincible so thought I would try dumbells… Dumb mistake… heres the workout and will articulate later on the stupid mistake.
CHEST
Incline Dumbell Press
1x40@20lbs
2x15@70lbs - on the last rep of the second set of these my right wrist (well, if I had a wrist) gave out even with the wrist wraps. The weight started in towards face so I slammed the left weight - missed butting the heads together and ended up slamming the hand grip with my left hand intake - against the 70lbs coming down… I did stop it from falling into my face, however, ended up totally smashing my left hand!! The middle finger and thumb took the brunt of it… middle finger got all swollen and now has a large purple tip!
yeah, it HURT!!
well, I pushed on with the workout… had to show wife I am tough!! LOL> .yeah, whatever!! 20 yr old vanity!! got to stop this crap, it hurts! LOL…
1x10@70lbs… just had to do the third set!!

2x10@200lbs
Seated Calf Machine
3x20@250lbs
20 minutes on crosstrainer cardio
went home and put left fingers on ice!!!
BTW… I weigh in every two weeks… however, I measure in every three weeks… I think there are too many variables to weigh and measure on weekly basis… so, every two weeks I weigh in to measure how much to change the cardio for the last week before measuring.
Tuesday, 3/31/09, no gym today… left hand is swollen, ![]()
All due to the male ego!!
Will have to hit it hard tomorrow, use machine mostly for sure…
Danced with the Devil Thursday, worked back, Delts, abs.
