They are having problems now.

Military superiority is nice, as long as your opponents play by the book.

If they dont, cheap explosives can down wreck your tanks and cheap missiles can down your helicopters.

Of course one can call such people terrorists, but that hardly changes that they are obviously not willing to go home, or to line up in a battle line to get mowed down.

Bummer.
yeah, but it appears that rageradios is alleging that Israel needs to drag someone else into this to take care of the issue. don’t think it’s a valid point since they don’t seem to need much help.
If the US removed its backing of Israel and stopped supplying its defense forces, it would be so screwed. They need plenty of help.

Judging by how much money we’re sending them, I’d venture to guess they need the help. It’s ridiculous how much we give them.

I certainly appreciate the aid. Without the help of the United States, Israel (which largely consists of Jewish people expelled from muslim countries as part of ethnic cleansing, BTW) would have been in severe problems many times over.

Nixon’s help, in particular, was staggering. For all his faults, he’s an unsung hero of Israel, and prevented the attempted genocide of a people simply because we are of a different religion than our neighbors.

Regarding modern aid, the aid to Israel is actually far less than the direct aid given to the arab occupiers of Gaza and the West Bank, Eqypt, and Jordan, and includes “aid” in the form of joint purchases of American weapon systems, which not only employs Americans, but drives down the per unit price of very high dollar items.

And, as the Soviets often noted, Israel was THE western democratic country in the Middle East, and the only country where people of all relgions (Israel is 20% muslim – and yes, they are full citizens) — are free to practice (or not practice) their religion. She has served as a a massive military presence to the benefit of the United States in the most insecure part of the world.

The return in technology (like the cell phone you use – developed by Israelis) to the USA has also been uncountable, especially compared to money black holes like Eqypt, Jordan, Lebanon, the like.

K, then, why would they need to drag US into this if they are already getting what they need ?

Also, Egypt, for example gets almost as much from the US as Israel (they used to get way more until Soviet help dried up - including actual Soviet ace pilots with their MIGs- didn’t help much though, still got owned by Israeli military).
Palestine gets about a billion a year from the US alone.
So it’s not like Israel is the only country in the region getting help from the US.

But it is the most capable and trustworthy ally US has in that region for sure, if not in the world.

But thats exactly what we SHOULD do. Critizing the government is patriotic.

I sure do.

 1. They are Pompus
 2. Mostly Leftist
 3. They think they are enlightened more than others
 4. They can not be fired if they have tenure
 5. Most have never had a real job
 6. Most have never run a business
 7. Most feel capitalism is evil and so is a profit

Bottom line, many of them just hide from real life.

The characteristics are very similar to someone running the US now.

Going through all the Professors I’ve met:

 1. True.
 2. False.
 3. False.
 4. True.
 5. False.
 6. False.
 7. False.

Though the Pompus thing is just really from having a bad teacher IMO.

They are all pompous, it just depends if it’s a likable pompous or an asshole pompous.

By far, the worst lecturer I’ve had was a hardcore liberal. Completely ungrounded in reality, read like a textbook stereotype.

I graduated from a State University in perhaps THE most conservative state in the Union.

 1. Very True
 2. 70/30 liberal
 3. Majority yes (although not overwhelming)
 4. True and they know it
 5. So very true (with the exception of the business school)
 6. Same as 5
 7. Same as 5

Anybody who thinks that university faculty is not heavily slanted to the left is delusional.

You sound like someone who doesn’t have a college degree.

lets see if i fit the stereotype

“1. They are Pompus”

Yes, I am.

“2. Mostly Leftist”

I’m French. Your right doesn’t even exist here.

“3. They think they are enlightened more than others”

I’m not the most enlightened man who ever walked on Earth. But i’m definitely more enlightened than many others.

“4. They can not be fired if they have tenure”

I can be fired if I misbehave. but not necessarily if my students fail.

“5. Most have never had a real job”

I have been a pizza cook, a street musician, a webmaster and a software developer, among other things.

“6. Most have never run a business”

I have never run a business, but i have run a non-profit organization

“7. Most feel capitalism is evil and so is a profit”

â??Both capitalism and Marxism promised to point out the path for the creation of just structures, and they declared that these, once established, would function by themselves and this ideological promise has proven false.â??
Benedict XVI
