I am looking for advice on how to how to effectively remove sugar (any processed sugary or artificially sweetened food) out of my diet. I am not a body builder nor athlete, just a regular guy working on getting lean and healthy.
Does anyone have any good advice and/or foods they recommend to help curb the cravings?
The sugar craving is part of the addiction withdrawl. It will eventually go away. After about a year of not eating sugar and candy, some normal foods will taste very sweet to you. Just keep fighting it. Think of sugar as poison. Keep telling your self that you cant eat sugar because it is poison. When you are tempted to eat it just think of the fattest person you know and ask yourself if you want to wind up like that. If you have to, go in the bathroom and take your shirt off and look at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself if you really want to go back in the kitchen and eat sugar. Get really fucking angry at yourself and make a commitment to change.

It was just a suggestion to someone who is struggling with a sugar addiction to the point that they asked for help on an internet forum.
I actually don’t do the ‘screaming at my self in the bathroom mirror thing’.
All it takes for me is to pull the picture out of my wallet of when I was a fatass and look at it. That reminds me of why I don’t eat sugar.
Start by adding in healthy things rather then taking away… Are you eating enough proteins from meats, eggs, fish? Getting a lot of veggies and whole food carb sources? If you desire sweet things see if you can eat blueberries, or strawberries. Switch to some dark chocolates and limit your portion. If there is bad crap food in your house throw it out. Get rid of the lesser foods and add in better once. But start with a mindset of addition rather then deprivation and look for healthy alternates to curve your sweet tooth.
