I don’t believe in the devil BECAUSE of God’s Omnipotence.

A person cannot agree with both at the same time because the two cannot exist at the same time…it’s an oxymoron.

If you want to believe in the devil and sin, then that’s your choice (for whatever reason).
Just know you are choosing against God’s Omnipotence and Omnipresence…in that moment.

A person is either standing with/perceiving God(Good) OR standing with and seeing division, sin, and other devilatudes…moment by moment.
You are yet another living breathing object lesson in why men cannot be left to themselves to seek God.

I recommend he go to the Catholic Church and listen to the Authority guided by the Holy Ghost.
WADDA SHOCK!!! LOL!!!
I recommend he fall on his face where he stands and beg forgiveness of the most high God for his insolent presumption, recognizing his utterly indefensible helplessness before the Judge of the universe and own Christ alone as His righteousness.

If anybody ever wanted the most concise statement of the most foundational difference between Rome and Geneva this was just it.

Except my statement has more depth. And actually, I’d tell him to repent and be baptized. which is of course in my message above.

I’ll see if I can find it, but there is actually something written by St. Ignatius of Loyola about 12 ways to worship Jesus (I believe the examples are from ways the Bible talks about and how he himself adored the Lord). And I think the first one is laying down, face on the floor, begging for your life. Another one is I believe beating your chest/heart while asking for the forgiveness of your sins.

So, not much different. But I’d still ask him to go actually learn from a Priest even though I can help him. He might find more authority in a Priest, since I have none at all. Only God and those he has given authority to.

However doing the above and begging for forgiveness, will help. He still needs baptism and to repent fully. And accept the Good News, and not think you know how to privately interpret it.

I honestly never heard of God creating the devil. And after all those years of Bible study too! But hey, I don’t pretend to know everything. And, FYI, I’ve been baptized, confirmed, even born-again (twice!). It’s so lovely to come here and share some fellowship.

At any rate, in the event I ever want to know more about division, sin, evil, the devil and all other manner of boogy-men, I PROMISE to make a bee-line to the Catholic Church.

But for now, I am going to go take a nice nap before dinner

I know that Chris. =] For the record I also believe baptism is essential to salvation IN THE SENSE that a person refusing it betrays the absence of grace in their life. Another long discussion in the already long list of long discussions going on.

I’m not sure what IN THE SENSE means, but I’ve pointed out before the different baptisms. And I am sure there are plenty of Protestants that are baptized even though they are not baptized in water.

Although, I did find something out interestingly enough today while talking to a brother. He let me know that my baptism was not valid, because the Catholic Church sprinkles and does not immerse. I asked him how he was baptized, and he said immersed, and I asked specifics he said on his knees and they leaned him back into the water with a rag over his mouth.

Thankfully I knew they were having a baptismal ceremony for a family. I invited him to come with me. Much to his surprise, Catholics fully immerse three times. It is amazing what people pick up and hold as fact even though they have never seen it themselves.
