UN Preparing to Attack Religion?
I saw it mentioned on my Catholic interwebs. We all had a chuckle at the UN waving its tiny little fist, then we moved on.
While I personally believe religion has caused a whole shit pot full of bad things throughout time, we don’t need to actively fight against people’s beliefs. It was wrong for religions to kill each other over and over in the name of faith and it is wrong to try and stop people from believing. I haven’t read the document nor do I care to do so.
What we need is more rational believers and non-believers instead of insane zealots who attempt to push their views via hatred and violence. The problem is people, not religion. And this is coming from a non religious man.
Fuck the UN and fuck religion. They both just want to control you, manipulate you and get your money so that they can further their own agenda of world domination. The UN is simply the church of the progressive “politically correct” movement.
Religions want you to join their little club, show up at the big building on whatever day to sing songs and believe their bullshit (and donate!) and breed more little XYZ zealots. They will excommunicate, shun, blow up, rape, torture and otherwise disenfranchise ANYONE who has the audacity not to believe their (unprovable) little twist on the great questions. Because THEIR version is the RIGHT version (the XYZ book clearly says so).
The UN wants every one to sit in a circle and hold hands and be “equal” (as in equally poor). They will force you into the circle if necessary with their “peace keeping” army. They want to take your resources and give them away to lazy stupid people to further this “equal” utopian ideal. Because if everyone is “equal”, then no one will feel bad about themselves. Ever.
Both don’t do shit about injustice or suffering. Religion protects it’s molesters and it’s terrorists, while the UN is simply impotent (if you don’t stop killing you citizens, we are going to WRITE YOU A LETTER! - until the United States sends us troops, then we will invade you). The net result is the same. The world would be better off without either one of them.
Any time a group forms an entity large enough to have any kind of influence, it loses it’s mission and it succumbs to the simple pursuit of power. That’s just human nature. NO group is immune to that, regardless of their intentions or their mission. As I said, they are both only after ONE thing: control and the power that results from that control.

Agreed, seems like an attempt at new dogma.

Angry writes a lot of good posts. This is not one of them.
LOL at the idea that the UN is “the church of the progressive “politically correct” movement.” Yeah, just look at the nations on the Human Rights Council, it’s so PC and progressive. Or look at Sierra Leone and how the UN pressured the legitimate government there to get rid of the private security contractor it hired, Executive Outcomes.
A peace treaty had been signed but before it was put into effect EO was fired because of UN and IMF pressure (and promise to provide a security force, which came late) and the war started up again. The rebels were able to execute “Operation No Living Thing” and a lot more people were killed and mutilated who didn’t have to be.

This is utterly false. So beyond false that I am standing here with my mouth open.
I invite you to swing by the local soup kitchens, and I’ll be hard pressed to not note that each and ever single one is a church sponsored meal being given to those that otherwise wouldn’t eat.

That is what they are supposed to do , all the other is not what Christ intended.

He also ignores, probably due to ignorance, the fact that many nuns and priests have been murdered (nuns have been raped as well) in shithole nations trying to help the poor there.

You are a bigot, as is AC, when it comes to religion.
Just an FYI.
I grew up Pentecostal , They had a special speaker named Sister Charlotte , She told of 2 kinds on convents 1 open and 2 closed
She claimed she came from a closed convent , where she had to escape from , where she was raped on a regular bases .
I do not know if it was true or not but I will tell you it is one hell of a tale

“having or revealing an obstinate belief in the superiority of one’s own opinions and a prejudiced intolerance of the opinions of others.”

because I think religion does more harm than good makes me a bigot ?
Than every one on this board must be a bigot , if that is the case I am fine with being a bigot

What DD said.
Also, the fact that you seek out the wrong doings of individuals associated with a larger group, with the express intention of defaming the larger group with the individual’s action, selectively, doesn’t help your case either.

No, because you focus on bad actions of individuals, and project their action upon a larger group, with the express purpose of defaming the larger group, and purposely ignoring the actions of those that don’t fit your narrative.
