Catholicism = having 11 siblings, eating fish on fridays, fondling rosary beads, spewing forth Hail Marys like an obsessive compulsive and telling some guy in a box everything you’ve done wrong.

interesting idea, you might be able to compare these ancient people to several Hindu sects who had similar practices which were stopped by the British.

I understand, yet the Jews were not told by God to preach their religion to the ends of the earth and convert people.

On the other hand I have a very religious friend (do not know what denomination, but I can find out if you wish) who told me that in the past Christians were violent. “In the Old Testament Christians killed people and sacrificed animals in their Temple.”

I said, “Those were Jews in the Old Testament.”

That some guy in a box is another Christ.

A lot of those sects still exist today, and are subject to persecution, despite stopping practices like child sacrifice, widow burning etc.

That’s not to say all the sects have stopped, but then again, believing in an immortal soul the way they do makes for crazy.

I have done my research too and it seems Joshua then killed baal on Mount Arreat and destroyed the corrupted Worldstone.

Dang, guess I don’t qualify. 1 Sibling, I don’t eat on Fridays, the only thing I fondle is cashews, I only spew forth bad liquor and lukewarm water, and I am probably the last person to be considered obsessive compulsive, I probably fit more into sloth and gluttony.

Yeah, I don’t really fit the stereotype either. I had to go to school with a bunch of greaseballs though and my auntie thinks the Pope’s infallible.

She is right, the Pope is infallible.

Long live the King, long live his servant.

Another Christ does not mean another Jesus. In persona Christi, as your favorite St. Paul said.

Paul (2 Corinthians 2:10) says: “cui autem aliquid donatis et ego nam et ego quod donavi si quid donavi propter vos in persona Christi.

Or, “And to whom you have pardoned any thing, I also. For, what I have pardoned, if I have pardoned any thing, for your sakes have I done it in the person of Christ.”

Come at me, bro.

That’s Latin Chris which probably makes it Jerome’s vulgate, which is a translation to Latin from the Greek which you then translated to English I’m guessing since you said you were learning Latin. That’s number one, but I need sleep.

Still where we get it from, doesn’t matter if it’s Greek, Aramaic, Hebrew, Latin, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, English.

OMG! Do you guys realize you are debating on which book af fairytales is better than the others? Some crazy stuff in here, that’s for sure.

ALL of it just divides us, rather than unite us. Religion (and the self-righteousness is brings) has caused more death, suffering and pain that anything else in the world–other than greed. Greed is certainly something common in religion, as well.

You guys are freakin nuts.

Other than greed and atheism. You’re right…well besides evil, that’s pretty much behind all suffering, death, and sin.

Unfortunately, sometimes evil comes dressed in a religious cloak. Unfortunately this leads some to condemn all religion.
