Religion Catch All

I knew a couple that’d only have intercourse through… other avenues as apparently this preserves virginity. Odd logic

No surprise there. Hence why if one walks through the science department at a university near my home, he’ll question if he’s in NY anymore.

When I saw who is the instructor for the STEM camp I plan to send my son to next summer if this covid debacle is over, I wasn’t surprised either.

Yup! Because we get the cream of the crop of India In those positions, not the ones with 80 IQ’s.

105 is a very good average.

Probably.

Imma gonna delete all the posts I did now so I don’t get into trouble in the future lol.

Lol, I have heard that’s pretty common in some cultures. Back in the day you would have a very hard time talking most woman into back door action. These days not so much:)

By definition it is. Mel Gibson is superior to me in the looks department. Bo Jackson is superior in athletic ability. A physicist is superior in intellect compared to your average brick layer, and so on.

Best hope t-nation doesn’t have archives (i.e wayback machine)

I don’t think they do (it would appear they don’t, just checked)

You get what I was inferring. Most people have characteristics of which are “superior” or “inferior” in comparison to the “average” (if you wish to use this kind of terminology).

Not everyone is equal in every department, and sometimes it is blatantly unfair. It is what it is…

And you’re superior to him in the departments of muscularity, morality, probably strength etc. Ying/Yang, I can’t believe this is coming from me as it’s akin to a pot calling the kettle black but… Don’t focus on the negatives

I don’t think we have a choice but to accept that experience, life experiences as they sit presently, presumably in your brain somewhere is itself a metaphysical object. You cannot touch it, taste it, smell it, see it, or hear it, it’s just a memory. No perhaps the electro-chemical reactions against your physcial matter are firing in such a way that you have that memory, but the memory itself, the object of that memory is metaphysical, even if generated by physical processes.
For instance, I drove a Ferrari 488 Spyder (which was epic by the way). I can tell you everything about it, how it felt, how it smelled, how it handled (spectacularly) how fast it was (very) and the places I went in it. But I am not physically interacting with the experience, I am recalling it. Which could have physically happened, or it could have been implanted by a witch doctor who has my bar in a jar fucking with it (which would explain a lot), either way, that experience is not physical now. It’s merely images and information, it’s not tactile in anyway. That’s what I mean by metaphysical.

Here’s something guaranteed to put you to sleep, or make you want to off-yourself… Droning this non-sense could kill a deadman…

I think you are above average, at least by every metric I understand relating to cognitive ability. I have seen average and I have seen average completely incapable of nuanced, complex thought. So, trust me, you’re smarter than average. I am not willing to project an IQ number and I think IQ is a fairly flawed metric in it’s application world-wide, but it is a decent enough metric for those who live and are educated in western thought.

That doesn’t mean shit. IQ isn’t the only metric used for ‘gifted programs’ you have to also fit into a specified box and have a particular talent within that box. You also have to have good grades and basically be a nerd. There never were any rebellious personalities in the gifted programs. You could be a genius and never make it into a gifted program.

One kind of gifted. IQ isn’t the only qualifier. There are several targets and IQ is one of them, but you could be tipping the scales at 160 and not make it if you have poor handwriting or happen not to be good at math, or reading comprehension isn’t great, etc.
Second, even if you know your IQ, you never, ever, ever, ever speak a word of it. The implications of that number carries too heavy a weight for too many people and the fact of the matter is, it’s not something you can do a whole lot about. You don’t earn that, you just have it. Just like long eye-lashes or a widows peak, you can move it 5 points one way or another.
Or your head can go through a wall and you lose about 50 points in one fell swoop… That can happen too.

It was for my school.

Regardless, I don’t care. it’s what you do with your IQ in the real world that matters to me. If you almost qualify for MENSA and become some post modernist Marxist philosopher I’d still call you a fucktard.

I think the fear is that the GOVENRNMENT resorts to sorting people out based on IQ like some Randian Exceptionalism shit or attempts some form of eugenics experiment in some dystopian future. It’s possible when done on a micro level.

We do this in the army here, both to prevent idiots from being posted to posts where they have to handle weapons and to get the highest IQ fellows in posts like Intelligence departments or to operate complex shit like drones and to select and groom some to be high ranking officers.

But intelligent people will just leave and join the private sector after their service is done so it’s pretty pointless. That’s why our officers are idiots and the high ranking ones need perks like scholarships and expenses paid for education at overseas Ivy League schools so they are contractually bound for several years to repay the money spent on them. However, since they don’t care what course they take, they can take some rubbish course that doesn’t require high intelligence and they’re very good at rote learning so most of the high ranking guys are also idiots.

In my opinion, ambition and focus are more important than IQ (given that IQ is sufficient). Plenty of ADD / ADHD people with high IQ that struggle to hold down jobs that are easy for them from a problem solving standpoint, but very difficult from a focus standpoint.

I try not to listen to all these indie podcasts because we can even describe Jesus as a communist or anarchist when selectively interpreting stuff…

Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.

IMO the Church needs to adapt to the changing times(like you said before but in a different context0 or it will just lose members when countries like Brazil get more developed and educated and the older generation dies out.

While I’m not saying we have to change important fundemental beliefs, we need to be able to “brand oursselves” better.

“Love the sinner, hate the sin” for homosexuality as an example.

Don’t protest against gay marriage if you believe in free will and what is made law on earth shall be law or something I can’t remember. Nothing in the bible states you have to stop them from going to hell. Just don’t allow such unions to be solemnized in a church.

Get the Pope to keep his mouth shut about politics.

Focus on talking about world peace and loving they neighbor even if he blasts Painkiller at full volume at 12 am and holding hands and singing “We are the World” or something.

Shit like that, you know.

IIRC, the eye of the needle in that story is more of a small gate than a needle thread hole. So possible, but not likely. A camel through a literal needle thread hole is impossible without a lot of camel processing.
