So how come nobody has reproduced the big bang?
Not all theories are baseless nonsense, but they are nothing more than theories.

A scientific theory does not have the same meaning as the common usage of the word theory. The theory of gravitation is a theory in science, not a fact. Something like flat earth is not a theory in science.
Iām not a meme lord but every once in awhile friends send some that hit home with me. The one with the couple shows exactly my sentiment Iāve expressed here.
@chris_ottawa I think you might appreciate this one.
Inb4 we get to the minutia of it. So for the record, no I donāt think pot is a threat to society, despite not liking it or wanting it around.
That couple looks racist. Not sure how the meme missed that.
Well, I have a lot of catching up to do in this thread. I became a big topic of conversation in the āRoad to 2020ā¦ā, which is weird; I never knew people cared so much!
. So I will catch up probably tomorrow. Since I created this thread, I get notified on every single post. If there is something you want me to read specifically, please ā@ā me otherwise it will not stick out of the mire.
Because the conversation turned to who is the biggest piece of garbage that posts here. It was only natural you would come up.
And alcohol is a drug.
The issue isnāt the differential regarding end goals. It stems rather from the best perceived way to achieve said goal and/or perhaps what constitutes a healthy community. Virtually no one is advocating for widespread heroin addiction or rampant poverty and street prostitution.
Did I interpret this correctly? Do you have a problem with manual labour?
Literally impossible given the vast scale of the universe, a re-creation would have to be done on a microscopic scale (and I think itās possible this might have been done before). Recreating the period of rapid expansion that occurred during/as a result of the Big Bang would be also be impossible, that being said there is plenty of evidence providing semi-adequate proof validating the big bang theory.
look up Hubble Leamitreās Lawā¦
other observational evidence I can think of.
As @zecarlo has said, alcohol is a drug. Consuming ethanol in low dosages on special occasions is IMO equatable and/or less toxic compared to the equivalent of consuming a small dose of cannabis on special occasions. This meme is amenable to catering towards your outlook on life. Differing experiences/outlooks need not be discarded or definitively thought of as toxic/destructive simply because you disagree agree with them. Not everyone will form the same world view. Itās a decently constructed meme though
Yeah, you know, stupid shit was running through my head at the time.
Like how Chinese people make up 25% of Malaysiaās population but hold up most of the economy and the government enacted affirmative action policies for the majority race.
And how the majority race marched in protest because they wanted to abolish some of these affirmative action policies.
Like how I was telling friends in Hong Kong to get those stupid rioting kids(the extremists) to cut it out because this aināt the West or something like this would happen and Iāve been saying from the start China will eventually become more like Singapore.
And how most ethnic Chinese I know in S.E Asia were calling them idiots and traitors to their own country(HK, not China) while it was the West cheering them on. I still supported them in spirit even though pragmatically I knew it was dumb when they started pushing their luck later on.
All sorts of absurdity thatās happened in recent months/years.
No, you didnāt. What I meant was that working-class people are more often subject to the whims of oligarchs and world changers and at higher risk of social pathologies and deaths of despair.
I wouldāve been better off if I worked with my hands as a teenager. My father-in-law and brother-in-law are carpenters. A friend is a construction worker. In some cases I have more respect for people who work with their hands.
Itās quite true from my experience. Where I lived as a kid, almost everyone was worked with their hands. Itās why I had to get out of there.
I dunno man. Probably wouldnāt have made a difference. I did lots of manual labour as a kid but I donāt think I would have been better off if I didnāt unless you count one of the motivations for leaving because I didnāt want to spend the rest of my life as a manual labourer. Not looking down on them at all. Itās just not for me.
Your talents lie elsewhere obviously and it is likely your intellectual ability and openness are higher than whatās needed for some manual labor jobs. Maybe not all though. My father-in-law has an undergrad in architecture but went to carpentry because he couldnāt stand being in an office. Heās a very bright guy, loves building things, and makes a good living.
I REALLY REALLY WISH more people understood this.
I think itās clear, though these topics can segway into multiple sub topics, that no one has the intent of causing a net loss to society. Sometimes itās a question of how much ālossā weāre willing to take to preserve certain beliefs or ideologies which can potentially end up in a āgainā in a non-quantifiable way, others itās about what methods would cause a greater ālossā.
Of course, if youāre are a fucking rabid Marxist arguing for state socialism, then FUCK YOU lol.
Agreed (unfortunately)
Iād also agree to an extent. Iāve found manual labour tends to instill a good sense of work ethic and furthermore has the ability to equip one (depending on the type of labour) with the skills required to complete a wide range of generalised activities as an adult.
Upon discussing evolution with the ultra-orthodox/very religious crowds Iāve been given the response āwell, itās just a theoryā more than once.
Iām the reincarnation of Freidrich Engels.
Regarding end goals, we have a myriad of cultures preserving different sociocultural norms/traditions. With the sheer level of diversity present within the world we have amassed a hefty body of literature dictating the outcomes present regarding different traditions/practices/legislature put in place. I think itād be smart to review compiled literature and make an educated guess in relation to what would/wouldnāt benefit society as a whole IF we have repeated documentation indicative a certain practice is beneficial.
Granted accepted normalities differ from country to country, what works within one country wouldnāt necessarily work within another depending on engrained sociocultural normalities. You couldnāt put mass restrictions on procuring weapons in the USA comparative to what has been put in place within Australia as gun culture is so ingrained, availability of weapons would be rampant regardless of legislature etc.
There are downstream implications/consequences and benefits associated with passing legislature/mandating religious practice be enacted etc that far outweigh our individualistic sense of whether an action/practice is āsinfulā or ethical.
The Friedrich Engels statement was a joke btw.
Then you would be a deluded hippie lol. The State will eventually wither away leading to a national hippie commune.(BWAHAHAHAHHAAHA)
Of course I got it. Even if I didnāt know you from your posts, no wannabe socialist would claim to be an Engels fanboy. Itās not hip enough. Besides, youāre too smart to be a real socialist.
Actually all that opposes what is listed in that meme has proven miserable outcomes, aside from church going which can be substituted for any community activity. Facts, stats, experience, observation is all there.
Anyway, there really isnāt much freedom when one people want to impose their will by coercion or brute force on the other. Those who oppose what is listed are sure showing they want to dismantle much of it.
This is why the fairy tale idea of Hans Hoppe, covenant communities, is appealing. Just for the fun of it, why not envision a community that allows porn, prostitution, gambling, no fault divorce, polygamy, polyamory, whatever some group wants to do, and everyone who aināt into it, isnāt allowed. Maybe even outlaw religions. Whatever.
And vice versa can be done too.
Isnāt that in line with freedom and libertarianism? You know ādonāt like it there, move elsewhere.ā āDonāt wanna watch or listen, turn it off.ā
Itās not blind faith, but some faith is required. For instance, faith in the scientific method.
We have to start off with a couple presuppositions. One of them being that we experience reality and that it is indeed reality. If you buy into that, then the scientific method is perfectly reasonable.
Actually, there has been some experiments done at CERN that closely resemble conditions at the what the scientists call the Big Bang. But itās obviously not reproducible because weāre not God.
The Big Bang is currently the best explanation for the existence of the universe as we know it, but it is not completely accepted by everyone, because mainly there is no way to really know.
I believe the Big Bang happened, whether or not it was a bang or not, there is decent information explaining the expansion of the universe from a central point which appears to be where the ābangā occurred. Itās kind of impossible to know for certain, so we look for best explanations. Right now, with the current evidence, the best explanation for what we currently see in the universe is the Big Bang. This is a scientific theory, not a fact. Most things in science that are widely accepted are in fact theories.
Whatās more important than what happened after the Big Bang is what happened before. What was there? Was it a singularity containing all the properties in the universe that just spontaneously blew out for no reason? Where did this thing come from? How long was it in that state and what substrate did it exist in if there was no space?
All these are very good questions which in no way, shape or form disprove the existence of God. Actually, quite the opposite, sine something cannot come from nothing itās reasonable to ask why it happened and how did it happen and where it came from.
