I was just looking out for you man. Not to nanny or anything
Zone,
I’m interested to hear your experiences with the post-rehab cycle, because I am attempting a very similar cycle soon. I’ve got a couple soft-tissue injuries(tendinosis/impingement in the biceps tendon at the right shoulder, and a tear in the pronator teres muscle at the musculo-tendinous junction in the right elbow). Both of these injuries have been bothering me for a number of years now, and it’s gotten to the point where I’m sick and tired of not being able to train the way I’d like to train. Tendon injuries are notoriously hard to heal, and often they never really get back to the way they were before the injury.
I’ve tried all the conventional rehab treatments(taking time off from training, ice, heat, contrast showers, ART, joint mobility, mild eccentric resistance training, etc.), but nothing seemed to have much effect aside from ART. The ART definitely helped, but it only mitigated the problem, and I could tell there were structural problems with the tendons that ART wasn’t going to solve.
Anyway, I finally decided to bite the bullet and get Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy for both the shoulder and the elbow. It’s pretty cool stuff - they take some of your own blood and spin it in a centrifuge to separate out the platelets and growth factors, and then they inject the platelet mixture directly into the site of the soft-tissue injury. It makes a lot of sense, because the limiting factor in the healing process for tendons and ligaments is often blood supply - they just don’t get as much blood flow and nutrients compared to muscles. So I’m about to get that done next week, and I’m planning a rehab cycle shortly thereafter to maximize the healing process. The cycle looks like this:
GH 3iu/EOD postworkout
Deca 200mg/week
Test 200mg/week
I’m keeping the Test low so I don’t inhibit collagen synthesis, but just high enough to offset sides from the Deca. And the GH will probably be doing most of the tissue remodeling work. I’m planning on 10 weeks, followed by stasis, and taper with a SERM.
Btw, this will be my fourth cycle. I’m 33 years old, and 6’4’’ and 240lbs. I haven’t been able to train properly for the past year or so, so I’m probably more of a lean 220lbs. once I drop some body fat. I’m not really interested in hypertrophy or strength gains from this cycle, I’m really only doing it in order to heal my various injuries. In fact, if I keep my focus solely on rehab, I think I can come out of this cycle with an injury-free fully-functioning body, which I can then train naturally without being hampered by tendon problems.
The doctor will do his job, and then I just have to make the most of the healing process by training right and eating right, with the help of this cycle. So anyway, I’m interested in hearing about your results from the rehab cycle, and what’s worked and hasn’t worked.
Cheers
