Reggae Suggestions?

Israel Vibration, these guys are a great roots band.

you are welcome in advance…

Gyptian is amongst the top new artists in the Bob Marley mold. also go with jah Cure, Morgan Heritage, Anthony B, Marlon Asha. iWayne.

Reggae has now developed into more than one ‘type’ of music. one is dancehall (sean paul, elephant man), the other is culture, which is what most closely fits bob marley today.

search ‘culture’ and enjoy.

Peter Tosh, Sizzla, Capleton, Damien Marley.

I saw Sizzla live, and it was just on a whole different level. Blew away his studio stuff.

ALso try to get some mix tapes/cd’s by various selectas in stores. It’s hard to find good ones depending where you live. Some great mix DJ selectas are DJ Fidel, DJ Camilo, Road Warrior (not sure if they are still putting them out), Stonelove movement, etc.

True Rastas have major issues with Sean Paul. They do not consider it Reggae, to them it is Pop/Dancehall.

Raggae is sacred music to Rastafarians.

The Rastafariani movement can be divided in three Mansions of Rastafari

The largest Mansion is the Twelve Tribes of Israel, most mainstream Rasta musicians are TTI… or close to it. They believe strongly in racial harmony and are spread through the world.

Bobo Ashanti is another Mansion. They are hard core Black supremacists, they are mainly found in the Carribean…possibly Flatbush.
