Reggae Recommendations

Yo,

I’ve been hit with some reggae by my neighbors blaring it from their speakers…I kinda dig it.

Anyone have any good tunes?

some smoking tunes, ya know? I kid, I kid!

post 'em if you got 'em.

oh, it doesn’t matter if they’re old or new (no Bob Marley I already have all his stuff)

Damian Marley

Its a good show, I’ve seen them in Cleveland a couple times. Coming 5/22 to Park Street Tavern in Columbus. You should check it out.

Where’s Pootie Tang when you need him?

Sugar Minott is pretty dope. Burning spear, Steel Pulse, Sister Nancy, Peter Tosh, Toots and the Maytals,King Tubby, Yellowman… There’s quite a few that are really good. Also, check out Easy star All-Stars. They do some serious dub covers.

You get the idea.

To the rescue! Rock you got to let me know what type of reggae u are you into, slow reggae i.e lovers rock, roots reggae (bob marley) dancehall reggae (beenie man, elephant man) Im gonna lay out a sample and you can let me know what tickles your fancy:

This is an example of Slow Reggae kinda in the lovers rock category

Classic lovers rock pioneer and reggae legend Beres Hammond (one of my all time favs)

Roots Reggae legend Lee Scratch Perry one of his newer songs

Some Dancehall from Beenie Man more upbeat party driven music

THIS IS THE ALLTIME SLOW JAM CLASSIC IN ALL OF REGGAE!!

Here is a classic weed tune for my stoners.

Haha, you should see my soul and jazz collection!!.. Seriously man, I just really enjoy music. There’s music you hear and music you feel. If I can feel it, then I can apprecciate it, regardless of genre. I saw Toots a couple of years ago and Steel Pulse a couple of weekends ago at the International fest. They were awesome. Not sure if you’ve heard this, but here’s a punk band doing a reggae song. It’s actually one of my favorites-
