All of Rollins stuff is great, but Illumination is one of my favorites.
I had the pleasure of meeting Henry after a show he did local back in October. They say never meet your heroes, but who ever said that had never met Rollins. He was awesome.

Met him twice on USO tours … Signed my powerlifting belt, a cool article from Flex magazine, and got a picture with him in my Danzig shirt. We talked for some time. Very engaging and intense.

Reps felt really good. Bar speed was good and all reps felt strong. Went for a 3 rep on the last set but couldn’t get out of the bottom without a back bend, so I stopped at 2. Really pleased with how press went today. I’m getting stronger in vertical push.

I ran out of time. I will usually add an extra 30min to the time if needed, but someone had booked the 6 to 7 slot this morning, so I had to cut things short today.
Tonight was more side control. First exercise was to start in bottom side and escape while setting up a submission. Then explain it to the class. My first escape was the knee trap float over, then knee on belly transition to mount capturing the far arm, transitioning to a spiral arm bar. We then switched partners and repeated. My next move was the standard shrimp escape but with a thumb in grip on the lapel with my framing arm, then working the over the shoulder lapel choke. I saw lots of good creative ideas from the rest of my team mates.
second exercise was to try to submit Uki from bottom side, using what ever hand placement they gave us. Again, lots of thinking and working thru the options.
During rolling one of our other blue belts and I played the “Chess Game” Starting in side, Tori would make 1/2 a move, then Uki would make 1/2 move and so on and so on until someone got a submission locked in. Then we switch top/bottom. We did this for probably 45 min. Just good, slow, methodical movements. This kid is dope and grabbed me right off the bat to work with. He’s trying to help me get back up to speed and i appreciate him.

Ran out of time and someone sniped my overflow slot. I just need to book for 1.5 hours so i’ve got enough time.
It was a kickoff meeting with the Government for a new contract my company won. Kickoffs are never fun. Full contract review, review of the initial schedule, ect. I was responsible for developing the schedule, so lots of “this comes after that” kinda stuff. Good Times.
