Hey everyone. I started trt, doing 200 mg of test c per week about 7 months ago. I got red puffy eye bags right when the test started to kick in. At one point they got super inflamed and I had to go to the dermatologist to get Hydrocortisone cream. This brought the swelling down but not all the way back to normal. I am getting my hormones tested soon by an endocrinologist to see if anything hormonal could be causing it. I have see a few posts on here and reddit of people seeming to have similar problems as me after starting test. Has anyone had this and been able to resolve it without coming off? It looks pretty abnormal and people are always asking me why my face is swollen so I am considering coming off if I can’t find a solution. Any help would be greatly appreciated since it seems like no one really knows what would cause this.
Seems as though your endo has dropped the ball leaving you with these symptoms for 7 months! Normally you check levels 6-8 weeks after starting, not 7 months into TRT.
This is too much Test for most men and it’s rare men dial in on TRT on the first attempt, without some dosage adjustment. Most men are optimized on TRT at 100-150 mg per week.
As for the swelling, TRT increases aldosterone produced in adrenal glands, which enters the kidneys, and tells the kidneys to absorb more sodium and sodium, carries water. This leads to fluid retention.
So the solution is simple, lower the dosage, not quitting is the answer.
I will tell the endocrinologist to test for this. Thank you.
I wouldn’t expect much from your endo, they are typically the worst at managing TRT.
Many endo’s lack clinical experience and no amount of guidelines can compensate for, and are hogtied by outdated guidelines, decades behind the medical science.
