BTW, which did you prefer - San Andreas or GTA IV? I really can’t say! I see GTA IV as a better game, but there’s that part of me that yearns to put the san andreas disc in and drive a big fucking truck through the desert and maybe steal a plane to fly it under the damn bridges. Ahhh, the good old days.

And their radio shows LOL. Too funny. They parodied the shit out of everything. And did it well.
GTA iv sucked in my opinion. I felt ZERO connection with the lead character and the world of the game was EXTREMELY uninteresting even if it did have better graphics.

Games like that are why Saints Row started selling more copies…because people wanted THAT experience again and Saints Row was a pretty good knock off of GTA-SA…minus the heart and sense of humor.
True. Would have been awesome if San Andreas had the graphics of GTA IV. My main gripe with GTA IV was the lack of variety. It became a little bland and repetative (and a little depressing) after a while.

As if they’d done something to deaden the colour.

Overall however it was still better than 90% of the shit that comes out. I’ve never played Saints Row, so I couldn’t compare.

Worth getting for cheap, I imagine?
I ONLY got Saints Row because I wanted to play a game like GTASA but with the graphic engine of my PS3. It is very similar…but what made GTASA what it was is the creativity that went into the world of the game, the humor and the characters.

Hearing some guy scream out about how he’s too high for this shit when someone rear-ends his car is fucking hilarious.

You connected with the man character better…and being able to change your physical appearance by lifting weights or eating too much was ground breaking at the time.
i totally agree with you prof, IMO GTASA was the best one out of the GTA series.

80’s New Wave music and coke deals. Something just feels right.

Thanks for the company guys. T-Nation got me through the slowest, most boring and yet the most anticipation-filled day of the last few weeks. I salute you.

Cheerio!
Lol - thought you might already have JC2.

Enjoy RDR - settle in and have a blast. Post up later and let me know what you think.

Dude, I loved Vice City - put dozens of hours into that one.

i never cleared vice city FML

Has anybody tied someone up yet and put them on the train tracks?

Not yet, but it looks hilarious.

Playing as a good guy - ocassionally kill someone I shouldn’t, but mostly trying to keep raising my honor and fame.

It feels right being a badass hero in this game - so much fun to wipe out a group of thugs and save some poor innocent. I’ve shot more than a few scumbags in town trying to kill some poor girl in the middle of the street…lol…

I can’t put this game into words … except ZOMG! Fuck yeah - my weekend is set. Will let you know how it goes!

Has anybody else here cleared the “Flowers for a Lady” stranger task? I think it was supposed to be funny but it actually made me really depressed.

How do Duel? I’m confused. I’ve been in three duels and haven’t managed to get a shot off. I think it was because it was 4am, the instructions completely bypassed my brains. Any help would be appreciated.

This game has GLITCHES. They may not be many, but my system has frozen once on this game already and I dove to hide behind a shack with my gun and suddenly ended up falling out of the sky from 300 feet up…and while that was very cool, since I can’t do it again on purpose, it just pisses me off.

I ended up under the map somehow - and I couldn’t get out. And then another time I got thrown (with my horse) about 200 meters and ended up unhurt at the bottom of a canyon. Was cool, but I didn’t want to climb all the way up that canyon. I wonder if there are fewer glitches in the 360 version.

That said, how duel? I can’t do it, and I haven’t managed to find someone to duel all of today.

I’m just saying that while I do like the way the sky looks and the expanse of the world they created, when it comes to fluidity, Assassin’s Creed 2 won over this one…even though red dead clearly wins in the “shit to do” department.

Riding a horse is way too fucking complicated when in AC2 it is pretty damn simple. Now, it does give you more to focus on when riding long distances (which may be why they tried to make riding one THAT realistic and such a pain in the ass), but overall, I am not sure I would say the graphics are that much better.

I am not sure I have the required two hours or more to go on these missions though. You can’t exactly put this game in for just a few minutes at a time.

There is a mission where you have to jump from horse-to-train.

Mid-leap i appear halfway through the floor of the train, proceed to get sucked under the wheels and then ragdoll for over a minute and a half while being dragged at least two miles.

then I reappear, standing amongst the crates and boxes, and dust myself off as if I wasn’t run over by a literal freight train.

it was awesome.
