Hi everyone,
Well the meet was a success and my shoulder stood up to it extremely well.
I did not make any P R’s as i had a hiccup in the squat.I had planned 130KG - 135KG - 140KG, but on my second lift i dumped the bar for some reason! I took the squat command and went down and just threw the bar backwards and landed on my arse on the floor Lol.I took it again for my 3rd lift but i could not get it up.
I went :- squat 130 good 135 fail twice
Bench 90 good 92.5 good 95 good
Deadlift 160 good 165 good 170 good
for a total of 395 and i only needed 380
I could not get any photos i’m afraid as i had to make the trip on my own. I will try to get some in April at the British Champs.
I must have been the oldest lifter at the meet LOL. I think that i can now look forward to the future without any pain.
Good luck to everyone on this post who has an injury
Nobby
Nobby, congrats. Chalk one up for the T-Nation geezers.
I’m actually starting to do some light shoulder work. So far so good. Me and patience have never seen things eye to eye when it comes to lifting. I guess my body will let me know when I can go heavier.
Congrats on the lifts. Keep it up.
Good to hear you are back at it Nobby.
In the last week I have made some amazing progress (still not lifting). I stopped taking the prescribed meds, and started taking one Omega 3,6,9 capsule every day.
I got no pain. All of 2007, I had a great deal of pain every single day.
I don’t know whether or not it was the omega 3’s but I also have no pain in my right knee joint which was also bothering me.
I am concerned about choosing the right time to go back to lifting. I certainly don’t want to go through that whole surgery ordeal again! Any advice?
Good Luck Everyone
Nobby,
Nice lifts! You’re well on your way. Your recovery has gone incredibly fast. I’m jealous. Naw, actually, I’m more amazed. Good job.

Thanks Hawcapt, hel320,ctownsend and carlsbad.I am a bit stiff today but it will pass lol.
ctownsend i feel for you about the patience thing. I was the same and i went back too early and regressed. Do you have a physio or a doctor looking after your rehab? One of those will know the best time to start back i would think.
How about using the iron woody bands? I have incorporated them into my training in the past. Maybe you can get away with the mini band or perhaps a Theroband might be of use.

yes I am going to physio twice a week. Today they were surprised at how well I was doing, when not less than a week ago I was struggling to move my arm.

Physio is quite good, and it IS helping. They got me doing cable pulls, 2 lb dumbell pendulum exercises, and pushing against the wall (rotator cuff strengthening). I am now at the second level in 3 levels of physio before I start to use weight.
I have attached a pdf file of something similar that I downloaded. These are some of the exercises they got me doing.
Cheers
Sorry CT but i cannot open it.

Its a pdf file. You can download it here:

Maybe this will help some people.
Let me know if you can’t download it.
Best of Luck
Thanks ctownsend. I was able to download the .pdf file. It’s pretty good. I’ll incorporate it into my daily routine.

Hi all,
This is an update on the British open that i qualified for in February. I am now the BRITISH CHAMPION at M4 - 75kg.
I broke the British records in each discipline!
What a last few months this has been! My recovery has been tremendous. I would like to thank all of the people on here that encouraged me and to add my support to all of you that have still to recover. There is light at the end of the tunnel guys and you will make it with patience.
best of luck
Nobby
Way to go. That’s what I call a recovery.
Nobby, congrats! That is awesome! Hard work and perseverance pays off. What were your #s if you don’t mind me asking?
Thanks guys.
I don’t mind Hawcapt, i was going to give a rundown of the day but this is a shoulder thread so i decided not to.
I weighed in at 74kg dead which i was surprised about as i am always close to 75kgs.
i went 130kg squat fail ( depth)
130 again and dumped it off my back just as i did in the qualifier. i don’t know why as i have never done it in training!
The pressure was on then. Especially as the announcer kept telling everyone that this was a new Brit record and my final chance to stay in the comp!
I nailed this one easily to a round of applause.
Then Bench 90Kg -good
95Kg - good
100Kg - good - PR for me since surgery and a Brit record
Deadlift 160KG - good
170KG - good
175Kg - good - a Pr again for me and another Brit record.
I wanted to go 180 for my last dead but my training partners said just try and break the record, and when i did they said you could have got 180 LOL.
Hanley, who is on this site is a member of my fed and i think he is in the Equipped on 21st and 22nd of this month so i might go along and watch a strong guy show me how its done.
The worlds are in Indiana in November and i have qualified for them as British champ so when i get an invite i will definitely be going over the “Pond” as we say and have a go. I will be contacting Eric Talmont to get some advise on another sheiko program to set me up for this.
To not hijack this thread , if you want , you can always Pm me and i will respond.
Nobby.
