Rebirth of the Juggernaut: Brute Force and Ignorance (Part 1)

I will always give credit where it is due mate. I will look forward to reading your thoughts on this latest training block and whether you think past blocks have contributed to this is some way, kind of like a multiplier effect.

@simo74 For sure dude. When I say ā€œthis blockā€, I mean less Deep Water intermediate and more the entire 26 week block of BBB Beefcake to Monolith to Deep Water. I’m so pleased with how they all built off each other. I thought it would be a good idea, but could never imagine JUST how well it would work.

DEEP WATER INTERMEDIATE Week 6, Workout 3

AM WORKOUT (0300 wake up via alarm)

Chins (various grips)
3xF

Clean pulls 135
1x10

Power cleans 155 w/10 band pull aparts between sets
7x12
1x16

Axle shrugs against bands
1x108

Kroc rows 115
1x15

Notes: 4:00 between sets of 12, 5:00 before the set of 16. These were some of the best power cleans I’ve done, and also done while feeling just awful. It’s how I expect to feel at this point in the program after what I’ve put my body through. My hands are also a total horror show. This is the last ā€œDeep Waterā€ workout of Deep Water. Just benching and active recovery left. Schedule may be a little screwy for the next few days, but at this point it’s just cashing the check.

Might play with the stone a little later today. Got Tang Soo Do as well.

PM WORKOUT (1530)

16 rounds of 20 seconds on/10 seconds off intervals

Odd minute: stone of steel to shoulder
Even minute: burpees

Notes: Still a killer combo. Good quick way to get the heart rate up. Back is tender and wasn’t moving too quick on the stone.

He says nonchalantly after killing a whole bunch of power cleans just 12 hours before.

Why do you think it’s so tender? Haha. No joke: this round of Deep Water I’ve started developing flu-like symptoms on the deadlift week. My ribs hurt. It’s wild, haha.

You’re just ragdolling the equivalent of my entire BW around here…100 times… fkn insane.

The machine rolls on. And takes no prisoners.

I used to lift at an Oly gym and got to see a visiting powerlifter deadlift-into-front raise 70kg after he saw someone snatching and thought it looked cool.

Might be a cousin of yours

Kinda surprised by this part. Every time I do a lot of PC or rows I get blisters, and I keep thinking they’ll develop callouses and wont blister next time. I keep being wrong. Looks like I’m not alone here.

Amazing work Pwn.

That reminds me of that strong man who set the Grace ā€œworld recordā€ basically by doing a set of curls

Interesting, I have calluses under my calluses

Please link the video haha

the dude doesn’t even bother to pause before ā€œpressingā€ it so it’s basically a curl to front raise

Looks like it from the low resolution in the thumbnail.

@raven78 Thanks dude! Ragdoll is about right, since there’s so little technique, haha.

@rroo My cousins are all female, and burnouts, haha. Sounds like he took after the Paul Anderson school of weightlifting.

@jdm135 It’s honestly the log that has chewed them up the most. 100 cleans on that thing was just shredding them, and then all the deads and cleans otherwise didn’t help. Same with the time spent on the power keg. It’s just been a helluva time for them. And thanks for the accolades!

5 Time: 9:45

Notes: 2:00 between sets of benching and bodyweight work. Had a tight schedule this morning but managed to get in the bench workout. Was really motoring through and using rest times to set up for the next lift. That circuit I came up with for the PM work was solid. Worked up a decent sweat and got in some chins. Gonna build the tower tomorrow. Since I have nothing to really save myself for at this point, I’m thinking of pushing pretty far into it. Will see how it goes.

Oh yeah, for a Tang Soo Do update, we got a stripe promotion last night. Decent workout. Biggest news though is there is a fair chance I’ll have to waive off the strongman comp, as belt testing is that day and I’m fairly certain my kid is going to be eligible to test for their first belt. I’m not going to miss that. Time will tell if that’s the case.

this speaks volumes to you as a father. Good on you for being around for your kids events, even when it’s not convenient
