Rebirth of the Juggernaut: Brute Force and Ignorance (Part 1)

@ChongLordUno Absolutely dude! Appreciate you for putting the idea in my head in the first place.

Ribeye turned out amazing

This is what anabolism looks like. Ate it off the bone: caveman style. Great way to conclude the program.

I’ve always wondered: does Jon have any weightlifting background, or did he think power cleans & pulls were just a good exercise?

As always, fun to watch you slaughter your way through a training block, my man.

Thanks dude! Jon sought out weightlifting training for Jasha Faye (the guy that wrote the book) as a means to improve his strongman game.

Is this the kind of makers mark I think it is? Not asking that in an accusatory tone, just had never seen you mention having a drink before. Very classic way to enjoy a giant piece of meat.

It was my first drink. Most likely my last too, haha. Given to me by my favorite mentor. It’s how I wanted to honor him and his help.

Ah. I just looked back and saw where you mentioned it. I apologize for bringing attention to the drink and not the idea behind it. The steak is the real hero here, anyway.

No worries dude; it definitely stands out, haha. But Holy cow that steak was awesome.

Aye, it’s no wonder they’re worshipped.

Also, the piedmontese.com price for that bad boy is actually super reasonable. You can pay easily 1.5x that plenty of other places.

Absolutely, especially on discount. Grassfed too.

Also, while I am doing photos, unwrapped my new toy today

Steak looks awesome dude! Hope you enjoyed both the meat and the drink, that’s a great way to cap off/ring in the program and career progress. Congrats man

I can’t believe we’re all about to witness deepwater intermediate in here.

Hope no one has thalassophobia.

Alright, fine, I’ll Google it.

20 Devil’s Presses w/20lb DBs

Notes: I genuinely don’t remember the last time I’ve been this sore. My whole body just aches to the touch. The 10x10 deads are shinning through that post night shift fatigue, and it made the first set of presses tough, especially since I’ve quit warming up on them, but we still made it through. Last 3 sets were tough, and I definitely did some “bow and arrow” presses for the 10th rep of the 9th and 10th set. Once again: MAY have been the right call to go for 141 on this at the start, but given how much my schedule changes and I have to be ready to press at my worst, this worked well enough. The Devil’s presses were a new add on, but I figured I had time to get in a bit of micro conditioning.

With that, the last of the Deep Water workouts are done. Still gotta get in benching and conditioning to finish out the program, but I’ve conquered beginner. Not near what it was the first time, but that’s to be expected. Absolutely grew from this.

Hey this is fascinating (from an RP lecture)

Relevant part highlighted. I’ve been commenting on how I’ve been putting away the calories and I just keep seeing size gain with minimal fat, and though I attributed some of that to the Alpha Male, this speaks to something else worth considering. Pretty much the only thing I changed was upping my fats. I actually dropped my carbs lower than when I was losing fat. And though I’ve made a concentrated effort to eat saturated fats from good sources, the majority of my fat surplus has come from monos, particularly from avocados, nuts, and nut butters. Maybe I was on to something.

PM WORKOUT (1430)

Axle Grace Echo

30 reps in 3:08
15 reps in 1:46
7 reps in :38

Notes: Lots of technical issues on the first round. Plates kept landing off the mats and I was pressing into the garage door motor a bunch. Must not have had things in the right spot in the garage. Got the conditioning effect I was looking for, and that’s what matters.

It seems that the same/similar happened to me once I dropped carbs back and added in fats a while back. Lots of advocado and peanut/almond butter as well. My weight stayed essentially the same (even losing weight) and it looked like muscle mass increased. Even now on a lower volume/intensity block, I am seeing growth in certain areas and haven’t seemed to gain any fat, even possibly still losing some.

What do you notice from taking this? If I remember correctly you have been using it for quite some time?

@boilerman You were a fantastic case study in that for sure! Loved all the food photos in your log. Total paradigm breaker: all that “fatty food” and you could visibly observe how jacked you were getting.

As for the AlphaMale: biggest thing is the aforementioned difficulty putting on bodyfat. I tend to shotgun stuff, as I’m just a living case study in extremism, so I started the AlphaMale at the same time I changed my diet, so it’s hard to say who the real hero is. But I don’t notice any negatives, so it seems worthwhile to keep up.

It’s funny to: Indigo3g FINALLY got back in stock…and I still didn’t buy any because it talked about how, if you’re not putting away carbs, it won’t do much…and I just don’t need carbs, haha.

1xFailure+burnout set w/slingshot+burnout set w/catapult+25 push downs

50 kb swings w/80kg bell

Notes: 2:00 between sets of everything. I was feeling pretty beat up and a little on the weak side coming in, but the 2:00 workouts are the ones where you just hold on and see where it takes you, which is exactly what I did. Good showing. Very pleased with the incline benching.

I am loving swings with the 40kg bell: totally different than light bell swings. Definitely going to be a regular feature. I’ve got a plan for later today’s conditioning session I’m gonna call “Cannibal Meat Eater”, blending together Meat Eater II from Tactical Barbell with my own brand of Insanity. 10 rounds of 10 swings and 10 Devil’s presses. Should be a blast.
