Rebirth of the Juggernaut: Brute Force and Ignorance (Part 1)

@dagill2 Same with the hair color . Mrs says I look distinguished, haha. Jim has a way with words as well. Always a fan of his perspective, even though he rubs a lot of folks the wrong way.

@rroo There was always comfort in at least having some integrity as a salesperson that way, haha. Helped I wasn’t on commission. I honestly just worked there for the discount.

@ChongLordUno Much appreciated dude. Definitely had you in mind as I wrote it. You’re absolutely personifying “Demonic Conditioning” these days and, in turn, are turning into quite the demon. It was no joke when I said I wouldn’t wanna run into you in a dark alley. You’ve become “more trouble than you’re worth”, which has always been my personal self-defense goal. You’ve earned a spot on my team of who I’m picking for Ragnarok.

@kleinhound I am SUCH a Goggins fan. I first learned about him from the book “Living with a SEAL” and I thought “This dude GETS it: training sucks and we do it because it sucks”. Absolutely true on the low standard. We can get so far if we let ourselves.

@simo74 Gotta admire that generation. They knew hard work. My dad is same but different. He’s allowed himself to get QUITE portly and is enjoying the good life, but his brain is still 20 and he always throws down when it comes time to do the manual work.

AM WORKOUT (0600 natural wake up) FASTED

13 rounds of daily work with a 4 snatch buy in

Notes: Just something to get the blood flowing. I’m working a 12 later today. Wanna get in that Juarez Valley workout: will most likely go heavy to make it short.

AM WORKOUT II (1030)

Juarez Valley Front Squats 275 w/5 six count burpees between sets

7*

6*
3
5*
4*

Time: 17:49

Transition immediately to

Belt squat stripset (no rest/lockout)
35x150
4x125
4x100
4x75
4x50
4x25
5xAxle

Notes: Felt strong today on those front squats, but it’s still a hard workout, and I had to rack the bar before the final rep of a lot of those sets at risk of otherwise losing the weight. Still got all the reps in and got in a solid workout. May do something quick before work, but have otherwise hit all the marks for today.

Finished up with tabata burpees before work.

Realized somewhere I got the weeks of DW mixed up in my log. I’m finishing the 4th week today and starting the 5th tomorrow with the squats. Eating big on shift in prep.

DEEP WATER BEGINNER, Week 5 Workout 1 (Numbering got screwed up somewhere)

AM WORKOUT (0700 workout after coming off 12 hour night shift)

Buffalo Bar Squat 325
10x10 w/1:50 rest

SSB lunges 135
3x10 w/2:00 rest

20 standing ab wheels
40 reverse hypers

Notes: I just drowned the shark here in Deep Water. Crushed this workout, and after coming off a 12 hour night shift. I’m just firing on all cylinders. This is while running this whole goddamn program without any rest days with a bunch of conditioning slapped on top of it (speaking of, still got that in the docket to get in the deadlift technique work). My skull is killing me, as is typical after these workouts. I didn’t need to lie down on the floor at any point, rest periods were tight, and squats moved strong. I’m just over the moon on this.

Careful. Sounds like you’re becoming training resistant .

For real- that’s incredible. Great to see people not just do well, but hit the stratosphere.

Here I am with my 5 x 4 at 325 with 4-5 mins rests and you smash out 10 x 10 in half the time. I know to you this is just work and therefore not special but I have to say that it is very good work sir. Well done.

Hell yes man! That is amazing!

@SkyzykS Much appreciated dude. If I get to the point that I’ve trained so hard it stops working, I think that means I finally won, haha.

@simo74 Thanks man! I’m really pretty amazed myself. I think the Juarez Valley and Belt squats have really transformed me. I was never a great squatter, but out of nowhere it’s really come far.

@boilerman Good to have you in my corner dude! Your log re-lit the fire for me on this.

PM WORKOUT (2100)

12-9-6-3
Deadlifts 275
Chins
Dips

Times: 4:57

Followed by the remainder of daily work

Notes: Got this knocked out even quicker than last time. Solid way to get in the technique reps and make it a WOD.

Things are really just in a good place right now. Training and nutrition are dialed in, sleep has been decent-ish, job’s frustrations are minor, family doing well, world is healing.

Been getting more comments on my size. Kiddo told me today that when I dropped them off at summer program and when I picked them up, their friends said I “looked strong”. Dropping my kid off I was a real site: was wearing my cut off Westside barbell t-shirt in preparation for my squat workout I was going to do immediately afterwards. Definitely classing it up. The Mrs has been commenting on my growth as well. Funny to have “arrived” now, because I’m honestly at the point where I’m just plain sick of eating all the damn time. I’m excited to get this training phase done and spend a few months eating a bit more “normally”. DoggCrapp-styled training still seems to be what I got on my mind, with a strongman twist and counting my conditioning as the mandatory cardio. I think it would be the right transition.

Saw a comp in Kansas in Sep that actually looks solid. Viking press, car deadlift and axle squat: all for reps. I think the other event was max distance Hus stone. Gonna keep my eye on it.

ooooh this is kinda exciting.

Kinda is the right word, because I’m not sold, haha. It’s definitely the most attractive competition I’ve seen in a while though.

can I ask why ? Looks like a good mix of events, maybe just not the most exciting.

Competing these days just becomes more trouble than it’s worth. It’s a 4.5 hour drive one way to a different state that I have to coordinate with my work schedule. If it was in my backyard it’d be a little easier to swallow.

I’m liking this one more than others I’ve seen.

That makes good sense. I dont even like the idea of driving much over 1 hour to anything, let alone 4 hrs to compete.

Yeah, it was easier when I had a 9 to 5 and the kiddo was younger. We’d stay the weekend often. Logistics became the devil, haha.

My drive time/days stay is 1/1. If it takes any more than 8 hrs. I’m just moving there instead.
