Rebirth of the Juggernaut: Brute Force and Ignorance (Part 1)

… I need to stop reading this log…

Concur.

There’s nothing wrong with you doing WODs if planned appropriately. The problem is you trying to turn almost every session into a WOD in addition to adding a WOD on top of it.

Would also be nice if attention was paid to my frequent reports of how much I’m eating to fuel this training, along with how I’m continually upping calories, how quality of life improved with adding of bodyfat, etc etc…

I’ll look out for those. Costco can be dangerous. I have my “regular” items, but need to refrain from the following items that I’m fond of but eat like I’m in a contest:

  • Dried mango. I love this stuff.
  • Those twice baked sourdough crackers. 40 servings? Try 3.
  • Mary-be-gone crackers. Sure, they’re “healthy” for crackers, but not at the pace I eat them.
  • Kombucha. Okay, I’m a bit of a “hippy” with my health tonics, but these are great. The problem is I drink 2 a day when I have them on hand, so any savings is lost vs. buying them occasionally at Whole Foods.

My go-to’s each time:
-Frozen blueberries

  • Nutzo nut butter
  • Wild Planet tuna
  • This yogurt they have. I am boring and like “Plain, full fat” and they sell an organic version. I put it in my daily smoothies.
  • Raw almonds. I put a handful in my smoothies and take a baggie full to work.
  • I used to get my protein there. Again, I’m a bit of a naturalist with these things and avoid artificial flavors, sweeteners and colors, and they had a big bag of protein that met my needs. Of course, they got rid of it. Now I have been ordering from Ascent Protein on-line.
  • Spinach. It’s just cost effective here.
  • Chicken thighs and/or tri tip. Just good stuff.

The Kirkland canned pink salmon is also solid

Btw, does your Costco sell barramundi filets? It’s honestly unbelievable in terms of macros and taste

Also (unrelated to your post but I thought I’d bring it up) I tried the ground bison- very good

While watching that vid… was holding back the inner voice to yell, to help you get another rep in! Brilliant and brutal stuff here.
Been doing (lighter) 30r sets here on the squats the past 2 training blocks here, and it’s something else, struggling to walk after each set…

@antiquity Keeping low carb keeps me on the straight and narrow there, although I AM always talking myself off of the kielbasas, haha. Definitely enjoying the wild blueberries and greek yogurt. Check out their macademia nuts too.

@raven78 Thanks man! High rep squats are about as anabolic as it gets. And that walk counts as conditioning, haha.

Axle strict press from rack w/rest pause 146
10+4+3

Dips
10+10+8+8+4 (rest pause) 25 push downs on last set

Notes: Started with giant sets of squat-chin-press, then squat-chin-dip, then squat-pull apart-dip, then hit the last set of presses and chased it with dips. Took 2 minutes between the first 2 sets of squats, then 2:30 for the final 3. Absolutely murdered this workout. This was the one I was the most concerned with, and it’s what has inspired me to eat big, and it seems to have all worked out. I’m feeling unstoppable.

Speaking of eat big, here was breakfast

The star of the show is the 6oz piedmontese sirloin, which I cut in half and put half in my egg wrap burrito with 2 organic free range eggs and an egg white with half an avocado, grassfed butter, grassfed sour cream and fat free cheese, and ate the other half next to 2 keto pancakes with sunbutter and sugar free raspberry jelly between them and 2 celery stalk with nuts n more. Chased it down with a mug of cashewmilk and an energy drink. I checked my weight on the scale the other day and it’s VERY slowly crawling up, which is just insane with how much food I’m putting away. I absolutely get why Jim just settled on the dozen eggs and 1.5lbs of ground beef a day, and that definitely worked the first time. I STILL get hungry in the middle of the workout with all of this.

LUNCHTIME WORKOUT

Axle Grace
2:47 (1 second PR)

Notes: Just keeps getting better, what can I say.

Mrs keeps giving me the compliments. “You look really good. Like, REALLY good. I don’t know how to say this without it being offensive, but you look…healthier. You were looking sickly before”

She’s right too. Just feeling so much better these days.

Everyone else in my family eats like birds and doesn’t understand how I can eat so much when working out hard (Note, not currently since waiting to be fully vaxxed before going back to gym).
Do you know roughly how many calories you take in a day?

No clue. I measured once in 2004 and decided it was stupid, haha. With my obsessiveness, I REALLY dislike numbers. Once I start bringing them into the equation, I fixate on them and HAVE to get them.

That’s such an important win!

This is a close second though!

Makes sense, I wouldn’t do it if it causes anxiety either. I rarely count calories either, just eat until I’m not hungry anymore (which some days is stupidly difficult). Have to count carbs for medical reasons, but that’s it.

Finally, somebody who knows the proper way to say “no offense, but…”

@alex_uk Hell yeah dude. Been good to be seeing my old self again, with some lessons learned along the way.

@cyclonengineer It’s why I leave them at 0: easier to count, haha. If I was without family I’d probably let myself obsess over it, but I definitely don’t need my kid to see that.

@flappinit Our poli-sci background shows through often, haha.

Exactly what turns me away from competing. I can do this shit in the gym, but I don’t always have an oversized rock to carry or an awkward fire hydrant to press.

Yup! When I first got into the sport, it was cool because I was ALWAYS using something new in a competition. Now it’s just powerlifting with different lifts.

Finished the day with tabata snatches and swings. Just antsy sitting around all day.

I remember watching it on tv as a kid and I’m pretty sure one even had Kaz squatting a platform with people on it. Fucking rad
