Rebirth of the Juggernaut: Brute Force and Ignorance (Part 1)

Fuck this, I’m fighting the urge to do one with kettlebells right now

These sound horrible… What weight %age/RPE do you recommend for the front squats?

I start the cycle with a weight I can hit for 8 reps for sure with 9 reps being a stretch and go from there.

Tonight was a major victory as far as food relationship went. Cheat meal at a pizza place. Wife ordered curly fries as an appetizer. I ate them, simply because they tasted good. I ordered a pizza that I liked and ate the whole thing. No guilt, justications or calculations. I had assurance that I live right often enough that I can do wrong on occasion.

This was legit my first real pizza experience since April of last year.

That’s a long time with no pizza! Glad you were able to enjoy it though

Thanks dude! Thoroughly enjoyed.

Awesome man. That’s almost a year without legit pizza, which is crazy. Goes to show how much willpower goes into what you do. Happy you were able to enjoy it!

Cake is the most overrated food in history.

Unless we’re talking about ice cream cake, which can still be ruined by way too much frosting.

Love it

Lol agreed 100% man

Did you order keto crust as an experiment? How did it taste

@boilerman Much appreciated dude. Willpower was honestly not much a factor on this one: I had for real external “motivators” at play. Once the blood lipids were shot and I had marching orders of get healthy or get on meds, it was too easy to make the switch. It’s honestly taken more willpower to try to get back to the middle like this. I’m SUPER binary: it’s either 0 or 100. It’s helpful when it comes to achieving goals, but it can (and often does) cause some serious collateral damage among the way. I’m the same guy that gave myself tendonitis because I did physical therapy “too much”, because as my PT team explained to me “we overprescribe frequency thinking that the patient will most likely underperform it”, haha.

@kleinhound Thanks dude! Lotta cool banners out there these days.

@flappinit I offer the counter proposal of cheesecake. Oh my god cheesecake. I am also a red velvet junkie, but primarily because it’s a cream cheese frosting delivery vehicle. On that note, the pizza place I went to does a cream cheese sauce, which I am definitely trying next time.

@anna_5588 Sure did. The whole pizza was delicious. I dug the fact that the keto crust actually was a pizza crust: I could pick it up, fold the slice, eat with my hands, etc. Pizza crust in general does not excite me, unless it’s stuffed crust.

AM WORKOUT (0430 wake up, dog and natural really)

CIRCUIT (chin-ab-neck) no rest between sets

Chins (various grips)
1x20
4x15
1x20

Standing ab wheel
5x4

Neck harness 60lbs
5 sets

SUPERSET (row-pull) 60 seconds rest

Axle rows against bands
5x10

Band face pulls
5x20

Axle shrugs against bands
1x60

40 BW reverse hypers

Kroc rows 115
1x15

Notes: Sleep is a little jacked up, so I got in all my assistance work for today while the family slept. Will hit the deads later, when I can make some noise. I really liked the effect of supersetting the rows with the face pulls: back blew up something fierce. Wasn’t concentrating at all during the Kroc rows: stupid thing to do when you’re only going to do one set. My right hip is bugging me: most likely been mashing the hell out of it with all the loaded conditioning stuff. Burpees on Sunday and otherwise staying away from weighted loads on the body post deadlift: will see how that goes.

Just as a little peak into my headspace, everytime I push for more food, I keep thinking to myself “Poundstone”

Mariusz got me into strongman, but I always dug Derek for his performance and look. Just conveys “strong”.

Oh! That’s pretty cool.

Yup. I had read enough rave reviews on it that it peaked my interest. I’ve definitely seen/made some flops in my time, but they nailed it. They make a sandwich using the same dough as bread. I’m gonna see if they’ll make a burger using it for buns. Place seems open to suggestions.

Ahh I see. Makes complete sense.

I think I wrote in your log before congratulating your moderation. This should’ve been another one of those cases then haha. Meeting yourself in the middle is a difficult thing to do when goals (internal or external) are a driving factor in life

Haha!

Im a fan of poundstone too. I grew up watching strongman and i always liked him. I have a few other favorites too but he was one who really inspired me in general to train. Between strongman, arnold and stallone movies, and wrestling on the tv i had no hope haha

@boilerman Thanks dude! Been quite a trip.

@bigdaddi Wouldn’t have it any other way. Dig those “bad influences”. I STILL get excited when I see Hulk Hogan, haha.

BBB BEEFCAKE Week 6, Day 1

AM WORKOUT 2 (0830)

Texas Deadlift Bar TnG deadlifts
5x135
5x225
5x295
5x400
5x455
5x505
5x10x400

Notes: We did a quick breakfast this morning, so I was able to knock out the rest of the workout. Kept it simple and fast for sake of time. Plate change rests for the main work, 2 min between first 4 sets of BBB, 2:30 before final set. Absolute ball buster but I got it done. Hardest part of the hardest week over: clutch.

Seeing Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle working out when I was a kid was what got me into weight training and wrestling lol. I still get excited about Hogan too and Goldberg.
