Rebirth of the Juggernaut: Brute Force and Ignorance (Part 1)

So long as schedule can support, I will make it happen.

PM WORKOUT (1530)

Strongman Fran for real (100lb log viper, strict chins)

Time: 8:19

Notes: Was supposed to do a weighted vest walk but some obligations came up. Came up with this idea while I was driving: viper press is FAR more strongman than log push press, and definitely similar enough to the thruster to warrant the approach. Dug this quite a bit. It murders the forearms though: I need to drop the log from the rack vs set it down. This should be a regular feature.

Grilling a 2lb grassfed tri tip right now. Hope to get some photos.

Edit: there it is

Nice cutting board! Drink the juices for the most gainzzz…hopping on the BBB Beefcake train myself after my Deload from God is a Beast! Wondering what anchor to run but no hurry on deciding right now. Will definitely be watching to see what you do.

Thanks man! Definitely been a good board.

After BBB I will deload and then run Building the Monolith, and after that deload and run Deep Water Beginner and Intermediate, assuming schedule can support.

Here for my monthly lurking replies:

  1. Work as always is amazing stuff here. Always love seeing insane progress in this log especially when it pushes things I hold dear (deep water, 5/3/1, poundstones, etc)

  2. Ultra Sunrise (orange zero cal) is the best sugar free monster no contest. I will not accept any other answer. Ultra Gold had my interest because I love pineapple, but it has a very strange and lingering aftertaste. Not a huge fan, 6.2/10 imo

  3. Program should definitely be called Boring But Deep or Deep But Water. Hell, even Boring Water But Deep, although BWBD as an abbreviation sounds pretty sexual so ymmv.

I’m super impressed with your ability to plan long-term and then actually stick to it. Most of us lack that discipline

So does Deep Butt Water! I know that’s not what you wrote, but I choose to remember it this way.

@oldbeancam Always a joy when you stop by! You and I are on the same wavelength as usual. I don’t dislike the orange, and will drink it over other monster flavors, but it still doesn’t quite have the bite for me. Good to know about the gold though. And now I’m thinking with this being Deep Water, Mountain Dog and Beefcake ā€œBig Deep Meat Mountainā€, which sounds like it will be the most uncomfortable training program name for anyone to list, haha.

@TrainForPain Thanks man. What’s interesting is I genuinely hate having plans. I drive my wife nuts, because she’ll ask things like ā€œHow long is your workout today?ā€ And I’ll say ā€œI have no idea: I finish when I’m done.ā€ ā€œWhen are you having lunch?ā€ ā€œWhen I can.ā€ ā€œWhen are you taking your nap before your shift?ā€ ā€œI don’t knowā€. I don’t like being locked into an answer, but it’s BECAUSE, once I commit, I’m LOCKED IN. I got a bad stubborn streak, haha.

Time: 18:31

25 pushdowns

SSB squats stripset

Notes: Was trying to talk myself into something else today, but once I got in the garage I knew this was the only choice I had. I’ve added 40lbs to this workout from when I started, which is cool, and looking at my lifts my squat is head and shoulders above everything else. I may actually be a stronger squatter NOW than when I was at my top bodyweight. I’ll take any victory I can.

I weighed myself last night before bed at 187lbs. I prefer not to do pre-bed weigh ins, but it’s something, and that’s still heavier than I’ve been.

Made a Santa Maria style breakfast this morning.

Tri Tip, 3 cage free organic eggs, grassfed butter, fat free cheese, 1/3 of an avocado and a keto waffle.

I 1000% get all that. I like just picking a program and following it, because I don’t like thinking about it every day, but I tend to pick 6 week ones because that’s the level of my commitment. At work, I do a lot of long-range planning, but it’s with the wink that we all know that’s not realistic. At home, my wife does all the planning!

That tends to work for the best, haha.

Meal prep took a turn for the exotic with 2 upcoming 12s.

I’m confused what I’m seeing in the bowl on the right.

It’s a seafood medley of crab, octopus, squid, shrimp, muscles and some other creatures mixed with some spinach and tomatoes. I ended up putting it on top of some cauliflower rice.

Sounds pretty good to me.

Definitely answers the mail. Cooking it without making the house smell awful is a unique challenge, haha.

That seafood medley looks amazing!

One of the benefits of having a dysfunctional nose is that I can cook and eat just about anything without being bothered by ā€œthe smellā€

Unfortunately, I live with ppl with really good noses

I ran into that with the microwave egg poacher. My better half came in an hour after I finished cooking it and commented on the smell. That put a pretty quick end to that.

That’s the thing. I don’t care how it smells: I care about not upsetting my family.

Ah, I guess I have the benefit of being Chinese then.

As much as mum hates the smell of stuff line durian, kimchi or fishiness, they’re ā€œnormalā€ to her so she begrudgingly accepts it.

Also, while talking about food, I bought vanilla cashew milk and will be using it in an attempt to make cauliflower oatmeal. I’m quite curious about this. If nothing else, I’m curious how a cup of the stuff is only 25 calories.

I tried this once with vanilla almond milk. Absolutely disgusting

Cauliflower works better savoury, and the texture is off
