I feel like you should have mentioned in the other thread that that stripset was done after 36 front squats and during a “deload” week.
I can’t give away my secrets! Haha.
Well… it’s technically a deload if the typical workout would be the 36 front squats + the strip set+ some belt squat monstrosity+ more giant set accessories + conditioning done sometime in the afternoon…
PM WORKOUT (1400)
45 min 80lb weighted vest hill walk
Notes: Had a bit of free time, so did some light conditioning and got some sun. Got the garage set up for tomorrow’s deadlift workout. Really excited to get started.
I’ve been using a backpack to try do some weighted walks lately, wondering if there is any guideline for what weight to use? Do you just pick a weight that makes you feel miserable by the end?
Also, have been binge-reading your blog lately. I was just getting into the “More Fit than Unfit” series, where you detailed your training history - did you ever get round to finishing that series? Can’t find a part 3 onwards.
I honestly just always use the heaviest setting on whatever vest I have. I figure, if you make a mistake and go too heavy, you can go lighter next time.
And man, you DID get far into the blog. I never got to part 3 in that: I got a bit too self aware on it and felt weird writing it. Might bring it back for a bit if I run out of ammo.

Notes: First day of BBB Beefcake, and, of course, I’m gonna add WAY too much assistance work to it. So long as I do the main and supplemental work and the minimum RX assistance, I’m good with that, and can scale down as needed. Going with Power bar on the 3s week. Last time I’ve deadlifted with one was most likely at a strongman comp. Stiff, but not as terrible as an axle.
It took a while for me to “come alive” during this workout, but on the second set of the BBB sets something woke up and I started ripping the weight off the floor. Was pretty cool. I think all this consistent work is gonna bring back the deadlifter in me.
Plan to hit some tabata trap bar sets later for conditioning.
Breakfast this morning was 3 cage free organic eggs mixed with 1/4 of an avocado and some grassfed butter, a “keto waffle” stick, and a 6oz grass fed piedmontese sirloin steak. And, of course, an energy drink.

Got a photo of my starting condition. No idea on bodyweight (thanks dogs), but at least I can document physique.
Lats are popping out like crazy.
Thanks man! They’re coming out of hibernation. With Deep Water, I wasn’t doing TOO much lat work, but now, left to my own devices, I’ve hammered the hell out of them. When you got a block waist, you can either try to trim it down, or just make your back so goddamn wide it doesn’t matter, haha.
More food photos. Want to capture day 1 of the program somewhat well. No intentions of making this a regular thing, but a good snapshot in time. This is what I’m packing for an 8 hour shift.
Each of those square glass containers has 4oz of Costco pulled chicken and 1 oz of a piedmontese chuck roast, mixed with Sam’s Club coleslaw blend of red and green cabbage with carrots, 1/8 of an avocado and tossed in Walden’s 0cal ranch dressing.
Also pictured is a drumstick from a Costco rotisserie chicken, a Costco protein bar (pretty much a quest bar as far as macros goes), a lite n’ fit yogurt, an Oikos triple 0 yogurt, 1 container of broccoli and peppers with a slice of organic turkey, 1 container of mushrooms and peppers with the slice of organic turkey, and 4 celery sticks cut in half, with 2 of them covered in Nuts n More spread, 1 in all natural peanut butter and one in natural almond butter.
After my breakfast this morning, I had a shake made with eggs whites, 1 scoop of protein and a greens supplement. 20-30 mins after that was an oikos yogurt, and then 20-30 after that was 3/4 cup of fat free greek yogurt mixed with a protein scooper of Naked PB peanut flour, and about an hour after that I ate some sauerkraut mixed with horseradish and siracha sauce. Been experimenting with including more spicy foods in my diet.
That is a LOT of pb ![]()
How much is it?
It could be the pic distorting the size, but if it’s just a standard celery stick, I reckon it would be possible to fit at least 2 tbsp on each piece
Of course, you don’t really measure stuff or count calories so who knows
It’s half a stick.
You CAN fit 2 tablespoons on it, but I spread it thin.
It’s my nightly high fat meal, since I work from 1400-2200. Typically it’s done with toast, but this way is more space efficient
I didn’t mean to imply that I thought you were eating an unreasonable amount.
I didn’t feel you were implying that. I was just curious how you were obtaining the information.
This sounds awesome. Love kraut. My dad does a hunk of bone in pork and kraut in a crock pot for a few hours for family gatherings. Always comes out awesome.
There’s also an annual party where 20-30 people and 200lbs ish of cabbage get together in my parents garage and go to town. We make something like 30 five gallon buckets of it.
That sounds pretty awesome! The horseradish tends to overpower everything in what I’ve made, but it definitely clears out the sinuses, haha. My favorite thing to mix it with is some sugar free BBQ sauce: very “backyard BBQ coleslaw” adjacent.
Yeah sometimes the horseradish is almost too intense! I’ve never done smelling salts but I’m guessing I’d have the same reaction to them as a really spicy horseradish haha
They’re a whole other level, haha. I call them “chemical anger”. They trigger your fight or flight. The first time I used nose tork, I legit threw the bottle across the room and ran away from it.
Already called an audible on the nutrition for today: forgot about my macadamia nuts and chocolate. Ate the quest bar just now and will be packing 6 macadamia nuts and a square of 92% dark chocolate in it’s place.
