Did you do it often as a grease the groove thing?
@voxel Itās a great tradition, especially when our jobs have made it that we canāt always celebrate the exact day. We still try to make the actual birthday big, but the whole month is pretty special. Also great for people who canāt keep secrets/surprises, haha.
Got up at like 0250 this morning. It really just seems like I only need 6 hours of sleep these days. Got in some solid daily training

30 minute 45lb weighted vest walk with dogs (the cooler weather has been good for my older dog: he can walk further, so we pushed it)
30 GHRs
Will be benching in about an hour or so. Thinking about hitting up Grace for conditioning today. Be interesting at a lighter bodyweight compared to before. But weāll see how day/life shakes out.
How does it work in practice? Do some days end up being just normal days or is everyday elevated at least in a minor sense?
No set schedule: just allows us to be more willing to exchange gifts, eat well, spend more, etc.
Thatās lovely

Notes: 3:00 between sets. The incline bench is approaching āoverhead pressā angles. Had to put bands on the bench and jack up the seat because I was slipping down on the first set. Much better anchored for rest of sets. Amped about FINALLY getting 3x10 on the bench. Big contributor was going so light on the incline close grip, but any port in a storm. Sticking with those close grip inclines because I got good recommendations on it from a buddy I trust and Iāll be traveling again soon and may as well stick with that movement. I think itās got some potential.
Are you increasing the angle periodically as a method for progression!?
Yup. 3 week cycles. 3 minutes of rest on week 1, 2.5 on week 2 and 2 on week 3, then up the incline 1 notch and start over. Started the whole thing with flat bench.
No. I would just do sets of 5-10 standing but with a wall just before full extension, as part of my training. I had tried it a few times years back with no wall and couldnāt get back up from full extension, and then tried it again a few months ago and was pleasantly surprised I now can. (I wonāt take any more space on this log, but I can post a video of the progression on mine tomorrow).
You animal.
I think @dagill2ās description of āsentient farm machineryā might be a more apt description ![]()
Iāve seen you overhead press with more of an angle than that.
Just to clarify: this was 100% a pwn line that I simply plagiarised.
The back support is the x-factor for sure. Having to call in your own musculature to provide it is huge.
Ended up going on a 1hr 50min walk listening to a Jon Andersen podcast. I am just restless these days.
I actually just finished Deep Water. His writing is not my style and I donāt think I could realistically adhere to his nutrition protocol, but I see why this system works. I definitely want to try it out in the future
As far as I know, he didnāt write the book. It was his training partner Jasha Faye. Super Squats is a great read too.
explains the use of third person. I assumed he did most of the writing.
The bluntness made me feel quite inadequate
Will check this out
Only you can make you feel a way.

Thinking of throwing in band pushdowns into the mix. I donāt train triceps nearly enough.
A lot of cognitive behavioural therapy books hunker down on this and lack a greater picture. I feel like thereās a time and a place for this perspective. It applies here in response to @anna_5588 quite well.
I do however feel itās important to state that there are times when we feel in ways that are uncomfortable/bad, and we might seek to escape that sense (because we donāt want to be uncomfortable or feel bad because it feels⦠bad), but doing so is an entirely appropriate response.
