Sounds great - actually horrible ![]()

Full disclosure, Iāve never canned venison but thatās how my grandma used to pickle pork belly , canāt imagine the process would be that much different
The process is exactly like corned beef, I just donāt like it. My parents in the uk still eat tinned corn beef. If mum tries to give me that in a sandwich I always just say āitās not the war anymoreā
Not going to lie Iāve got kind of a hankering for a shit tin of corned beef after reading this.
When I want a super quick easy protein and carbs meal, instant noodles and corned beef (or pot noodle and tuna). Corned beef sandwiches also work well - @simo74 who cares if itās not the war whatās wrong with a tin of weirdly mashed up cow bits?!
With mustard or branston pickle ?
Itās wrong pure and simple itās wrong
But itās made of dead cow and salt itās patently awesome.
I prefer that tinned ham with the jelly all over it ![]()
If I may interrupt the conversation on canned meats for a second, I weighed in a 191.2 this morning, and that was with an energy drink and protein bar in my system.
Iām approaching about 20lbs of bodyweight lost since the beginning of March at this rate. I honestly donāt know where I intend to stop, as this has been a very easy fat loss phase, and my deadlift leverages seem to improve while my pressing isnāt completely free falling. If nothing else, Iām not going to push bodyweight gain until Iām done with the initial lipitor run in 3 months, so that I donāt skew the results. If things go well there, I might try to do a full on clean bulk with the new nutritional protocol Iāll have established. Otherwise, might be time to be down a weight class rather than up.
Knowing you, thatās probably a sign to keep pushing
No end in sight for now. I may just push it and see if I can get absolutely peeled, but if nothing else, Iāll have the ability to ride a significant rebound.
It is a balancing act of ensuring I am still ābigā in my mind. So far, I havenāt reached a point where I look at myself and think Iām getting small, but I have caught an occasional glance in the mirror and felt flat. Since Iām doing this for me right now, rather than for anything else, appealing to my psychology is probably the biggest variable to maintain.

CONDITIONING
10 minutes on the BAS (20 seconds on/10 seconds off)
Notes: 90 seconds rest between sets. In between the set of 170 and 200 on the log, the bumpers I loaded on the log got stuck on the loading handle, and I spent a good 10 minutes wrestling them off. Took a lot of energy in a humid garage, and eventually had to break out the hand sledge to pound them off. None of the equipment damaged, but it took a bit out of me. My groin/psoas/whatever held up pretty well today, and I was able to actually get a stretch on the ab wheel, but the topset of log was still a bit shakey. Went after it twice to see if I could make it happen, but it wasnāt to be. After that point, I was fried, and when I attempted my second set of axle strict press, I blacked out. Vision went faded, the music I was listening on the stereo started skipping, the whole shebang. I racked it, cut it out of the giant set, came back later and got it. Because my press volume was low for the day, I threw in the DB pressing into the assistance work. I liked having it there: it may become a staple.
Workout went WAY longer than it should have with that log wrestling match, and I was dead. I may need to increase the calories in my pre-training meal. Now that Iāve eliminated pretty much the last bit of junk I was allowing myself, things are pretty slim.
Oh yeah: something I forgot to mention is that I was able to wear my normal belt with the soft belt under it, which is set 1 notch closer than the belt I typically use. Another sign of weight dropping, but also a sign I need to tighten that belt before my next set of pulls.
For the canned salmon, sauteeing some mushrooms (or just microwave) and mixing them in is quite delicious and hassle free
If you can spare the sodium, itās also great with saurkraut.
Practically vegan now.
Donāt push it⦠![]()
@anna_5588 From what you have written in the past, you and I exist on different ends of the spectrum regarding flavors, haha. Sodium isnāt a concern of mine though, and I eat sauerkraut daily. Iām most likely just going to mix it in with whatever my veggies du jour are and throw in some sugar free BBQ sauce or buffalo sauce.
@mattjp Iām actually eating MORE animals now, haha. Before, fish and fowl were safe from my reach.
TKD Lesson had a positive in that we had enough balance today to actually do roundkicks properly AND even throw in a few double kicks. Got to talk TKD fight theory and why theyāre so big on the chamber. That was cool. However, struggled a LOT with listening today, and came to a head when I asked my kid not to learn against the wall and they did it in front of me just to show me that they could (made eye contact, smiled sweetly, the whole shebang). Had some words, redefined the student/teacher vs dad/child relationship, hopefully sorted out for the way forward.
Also picked on my kid for how slowly they get off the floor. Wouldnāt be a big deal if they didnāt end up there so much from falling over. I legit threw myself to the floor and got up in the span of time it took my kid to recover from losing their balance. Also got to throw a few high-ish kicks on my own, so at least it means Iām healing well.
