Rebirth of the Juggernaut: Brute Force and Ignorance (Part 1)

Looks like I am a hedonist !!

I figure a vast majority of people are, at least by nature. It’s usually life that forces us to not act as a hedonist, but were you to give someone unlimited independent wealth, most of them would just spend their days relaxing and enjoying themselves.

I want to agree with that, but I Know for myself that I can only relax for a short. Even when we are on holiday I get a bit jittery if I am not doing things. Maybe that just means I am mental :joy:

I have a remarkable talent at keeping myself occupied, haha. There are SO many video games I want to play. I collect old consoles/games, and I’ve just been moving them from house to house because I never have time to set them up and play. I figure it’ll get to happen one day.

So in my quest of going ā€œholy cow there’s food out thereā€ I’ve been turned on to the idea of canned chicken breast and I have a feeling this is going to rapidly become my default work meal. I’m thinking of mixing it with riced cauliflower and then a combination of sugar free bbq sauce and avocado oil to get some flavor and healthy fats into the batch. I plan to pick up a bunch of this stuff over the weekend.

It’s honestly an amazing time to have dietary restrictions, because society has bent over backwards to accomodate.

I also was able to pick up my meds today, so I’ll be starting those this evening. Will monitor for side effects.

Honestly, I love canned chicken

@simo74 @T3hPwnisher I suppose it depends on your definition of ā€œrelaxā€ really.

Emphasis mine:

Had I unlimited independent wealth, I would certainly do just that. But my ā€œenjoying myselfā€ would involve doing stuff. Like @simo74 I can’t spend too long doing literally nothing, but I’m still all for hedonism.

I had to google ā€˜canned’ to reassure me that it in fact means what I thought it does. I have never seen canned chicken breasts in my life! Is it popular in the US? Seems so foreign yet convenient.

@Koestrizer canned meat is pretty wildly available in the US, and depending on where you are, it can be a big thing. My wife grew up in Hawaii, so Spam was a big part of her upbringing, and still makes appearances in her diet. I wouldn’t say canned chicken is popular, but it’s not rare to find.

@mattjp Yeah, I don’t mean to mean just sitting and staring into space or anything, but more just doing things for leisure vs self-betterment. Hell, even in my reading I have divisions. I do enjoy reading philosophy, but a big part of it is because I want to challenge my mind and force it to get better, and occasionally I just don’t have the spirit for it and will just read something fun and easy.

Popular…no. But its a thing. I’d rather go with canned Tuna but that would be because I had nothing else left to eat and starvation was a possibility.

Mmmm…spam salad. My family finds ways to make about any protein and turn it into a ā€œsalad.ā€ Egg salad, pimento cheese spread/salad, chicken salad, roast beef, ham but spam salad has to be the winner. Man its good and so so unhealthy.

This has me wondering, is Corned beef a thing outside of the UK? It’s not something I’ve ever looked for when I leave the country but eat occasionally in the UK as quick cheap tasty protein, really wouldn’t fit your diet pwn.

Also interesting take on hedonism, you can tell you read philosophy!

Corned beef is delicious, but I haven’t had canned corned beef.

And appreciate the sentiment. It’s funny: I enjoyed philosophy in undergrad, but it wasn’t until I had a kid that I really dove into it. I basically wanted to be as smart as I could for my kid. It also doubles for annoying my wife with useless philosophy trivia, haha.

It’s available here yet very unpopular. I’ve had it when I traveled through Ireland by bike. As a convenience food on the road it’s okay… but delicious? That makes me question your statement about canned chicken, @T3hPwnisher!

Wait, which one?

Corned beef hash and reuben sandwiches are both amazing.

Canned corned beef is gross. The homemade stuff is amazing. But corned venison trumps all of it.

Never mind, I thought you referred to them as delicious but upon rereading I now see you just confirmed their existence. Which I am not questioning.

@kdjohn Oh man, I need to look for canned venison. You pick that up from anywhere in particular?

@Koestrizer If you’ve followed me long enough you should question the existence of everything, haha. But yeah, I don’t imagine anything I’m gonna make is going to taste great. I’m just excited for it being high speed/low drag.

Yer corned beef in tins does exist outside the Uk but no one else likes it. Down here in Aus corned beef is a real cut of beef but it is cured meet and it is boiled. They love it down here but I’ll still to burgers thanks !

Oh I didn’t mean canned. Similar to what @simo74 said, up here it’s usually a cut of beef that’s been cured in a brine. I’ve done it venison before and it’s way better than beef.

No idea if canned venison is a thing. I’ll and make some next hunting season, maybe, haha.

Yeah, just realized I misread it. You clearly wrote corned, haha. It still sounds delicious.

Salt generously, cook up a brine with pickling spices, baking soda, a bit of vinegar and marinate away!
