I had no idea there was any more than the normal green Hulk.
You should have posted that in the flame free section. ![]()
The recent Marvel movies are my only source of superhero info. Maybe itās the generation Iām part of (probably) but I never read comics besides my dadās old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Youāre in good company. I never read any comic books. Most of my childhood memories of playing consists of legos, GI Joes, and being outside.
Fresh out of the vault, no clothes, bare fists. Full physical, bare assed melee mode. #trainingtostrangledeathclaws
@simo74 In truth, I canāt stand ANY of the Hulks, haha. But red hulk at least looks cool, and ISNāT Bruce Banner, so thatās a plus.
@jshaving Iām fluent in several dialects of nerd. Iām a comic book, magic the gathering and dungeons and dragons nerd, but, in turn, have minimal exposure (or interest) to anything sci-fi. I think the X-men cartoon being so HUGE during my young childhood is a big part of the draw. Had all the trading cards, we all had our favorite mutant, etc. TMNT was big too, and I had all the action figures, just none of the comics.
@Frank_C I was definitely hanging out away from the sun playing video games, haha. An interesting story is that I got into The Punisher specifically because of my dad, but not necessarily in the way one would think. My dad had a home business that involved printing and mailing a monthly newsletter, and so heād take me along with him on errands to the print shop, which was located next to a liquor store. For some reason, this store had a Punisher Arcade game (the classic Final Fight style beat 'em up).
This being the mid 90s, everything was grunge and people were too apathetic to care about kids hanging around in liquor stores, so while my dad was working with the print shop dudes, I would plunk quarters into the arcade game and beat up bad guys. You could use flame throwers, M16s, grenades, axes, hammers, the whole deal. Still an amazing game. And from there I got hooked on the character, bought every comic I could, watched all the (awful) movies, etc. Funny how life works out.
@oldbeancam I JUST did a run through Fallout 1 using nothing but a set of brass knuckles. That was a blast. Killing the end boss that way is just ridiculous.

25x20 curl
20x25 hammer curl
10x30 curl
5x35 hammer curl
Notes: 3:45 between heavy presses, 2:00 between giant sets. That topset of presses may in fact be a PR. I know that 201 for 8 was a longstanding goal, and that I got it, and 206 for 8, and I THINK Iāve gotten 206 for 9 before, but not sure I ever got 211 for 8. Even if not, it was an awesome effort, because I came in feeling awful and thinking I was just going to mail it in and go home. Usually the days I set my best effort. The push presses felt strong after that. Iām racking well before the point that Iām giving it my absolute best, more out of safety than anything else. Iām still performing way stronger on the movement than I ever have before.
Put an asterisk next to the strict presses on the giant set because, on the very last set, my right lat cramped up fierce after 6 reps and I had to rack the bar for a bit and stretch it out before I could get in the final 3 reps. Just something to be aware of.
Behind the neck presses continue to be awesome. This was just a solid day in general.
Weighed myself this morning. Still not totally fasted, as it was post protein bar and energy drink, but clocked in at 196.8. 2lbs over the course of the month, and considering Iāve been eating like the world is going to end, Iām more than pleased with that. Not sure if theyāre going to cut the weight class at 198 or 220, but either way I should be good.
Did you spend any time reading the comics or is your dislike born out of the new movies or the 70ās TV show? The grey hulk or as he was called āJoe Fixitā worked in Vegas as an enforcer / tough guy. He speaks, has a personality but is lacking in morals. Much more interesting than the green guy who just smashes stuff.
@simo74 Very very few of them. In truth, I just never appreciated Dr. Jekel/Mr. Hyde type characters. I dig a dude that has to own what they are. Itās why I tend to gravitate toward villains: they tend to own who they are.
PM WORKOUT
GIANT SETS (squat-stone-hyper)
Buffalo Bar Squats
10xBar
10x140
10x230
10x320
9+1x375
10x320
Stone of Steel Extensions (30lbs+spacers loaded)6
6x3
Reverse hyper 440
6x8
Notes: 3:45 between sets. I lost the topset of squats on the 9th rep by falling forward, so racked it for a second to come back and knock out the 10th rep. The stone extensions are getting real solid. Toward the end of the workout itās more a lap and heave, but being able to lap the stone when itās so slick and Iām drenched in sweat bodes well for when Iām hitting a stone with some tacky. Iām quickly running out of space on the reverse hyper, so Iām slowing down the loading on it.
Literally just had the evil idea in my head to start playing around with the rep ranges on this workout and go for 12s instead of 10s. Maybe thatāll happen.
Garage remains hot as hell. Laid down between the penultimate and final set for the first time in a while. However, my recovery is apparently very strong, because I bounced back before the 3:45 was up ready for more.
Got the week off work to burn up some vacation time, so ended up walking 4 miles with the Mrs and eating at a very decent chinese buffet. Probably good for recovery, because my legs are sore as hell. Wonder if the stone is starting to show itself in my recovery.
what is better for recovery, walking or all you can eat chinese ?
Both work differently, although I definitely did not engage in āall you can eatā, as that is a poor strategy, haha. I stick with unbreaded meats and veggies, but treated myself to 1 crab rangoon and a piece of sesame chicken.
PM WORKOUT

Notes: 2:05 between benching, 2:00 between dips. Strength felt on point. Rolling in to 3:45 rests next week should bode well. My whole body is sore as hell and Iām pushing calories harder than before. Got lots of leftover meat to eat as snacks, so pushing that as well. Trying to make the most of this vacation time.
Omg you cyborg who eats 1 crab rangoon. Dude, if a rangoon akin to the crab genus comes into my proximity I am devouring it instantly.
@strongmanvinny2 It takes quite a bit to restrain my inner fat kid, haha. But I got to spend a lot of my earlier life indulging him.

Reverse hyper 330
3x10
SSB front squats 145lbs
3x10
Notes: 3:45 between heavy pulls. Gave the suit a good honest try, and itās just not for me right now. Takes forever to get into the damn thing, and my pulling style is not a good fir for it. Iām certain if I got with a crew and had a watchful eye I could learn how to make the most of it, but itās just not the way I care to train at the moment. Burnt up a lot of time and energy getting it on, which made the rest of the workout suck, but gives me something to look forward to for the next week. The 655 was a real max effort pull, which was redeeming. Woulda liked to have moved more weight, but effort was solid.
Circuit was appropriately grueling. I am a fan of how Iāve structured this, because even if Iām not seeing quite the top end strength Iād like, Iām getting strong pulling at all sorts of heights and angles, and feeling less beat up from it.
Had a cheatmeal of a Chik-fil-a spicy chicken sandwich and fries. Been a long time since Iāve had a combo meal in full. It was pleasant.
Wow what a grinder! Amazing effort.
Thanks dude. Hoping for something bigger and better next week if Iām not screwing around with the suit, but any time I can grind a rep is a good time.
Really dug the most recent blog you put up, a fun read for sure.
In the middle callout for a reference watch, the three that came to mind were Heath Ledgers Joker, Michigan State politicians, and Kane and Abel.
@mr.v3lv3t Glad you appreciated it dude. Itās something I had wanted to write for a while. Honestly wanted to take it a little further, but it was already getting long. For the references, I had Nicky Santoro from Casino, Kefka from Final Fantasy VI, and Thanos of Marvel fame.
PM WORKOUT
Farmerās walk (185lbs)/keg (100) medley
6 rounds of 32ā with farmers, then turn and 32ā, followed by 32ā with keg
Notes: Iām getting a little faster and discovering technique issues. Iām starting too square, and not really riding the handles on the initial pick like I need to. Iām also moving super slow in the transition, which is uncharacteristic of me, but I am still holding back a touch as I get back into this. The crash pads were awesome for today. Conditioning really isnāt getting taxed, which is a good sign, but I need to make this a little tougher.
PM WORKOUT

5x30 curls
Notes: 2:00 between giant sets. First time in a while I actually did supplemental work during a deload. Usually, I just take the day off, but with all the vacation time and good food, I wanted to make the most of it. Could really push hard while keeping the weights lighter. Got to give the curls my all.
Funny anecdote, but this workout still sucked, especially in the heat. I came stumbling in from the garage in my sweat drenched wifebeater rocking a sweet deload pump and the Mrs. says
āAre you ok?ā
āGASP yeahā
āYou look bigā
āpant weezeā
āI mean like, muscular bigā
āhands on knees dry heavingā
āYour traps look really bigā
āgasp thanksā
āOk, so no hitting on the husband after a workout: got itā
The part they donāt tell you about lifting to impress women is youāll be too exhausted to do anything about it.
Haha right on. I wonder how many different combos of pop culture characters would come up in a poll of the masses.
