Yeah, he’s released a lot of info for free that hints around it. You could definitely construct some of your own plans and come up with something good. My current press day is modeled around something he said on youtube. The book is definitely more “break out the crayons” level stuff: very explicitly spelled out. Except for load and rest times, at least from what I’ve read so far. Looks like that is up to the user.
Coming from you that’s confirmation that the absurdity is not being sandbagged haha. I haven’t seen any of Jon’s YT channel, I’ll need to look into it sometime.
I’ve seen in some of Alan Thralls videos he’s using an MB Power Center axle and I didn’t realize I could get the hots for a piece of metal. Fortunately or unfortunately, I’m cheap and the Titan axle I have isn’t broken.
Is it at least hollowed out?
Pretty sure the MB is solid, so take that wherever you may ![]()
I don’t want to take it anywhere thank you.
That’s insane man! Total freaking beast!
@mr.v3lv3t That MB axle looks pretty slick. I’m a fan of the classics. I grew up drooling over the Ironmind catalog, and owning so much of it makes me feel like I’ve “made it”, haha.
@jackolee Thanks dude! I’m still over the moon about that set.
PM WORKOUT
GIANT SETS (Squat-jump-reverse hyper)
SSB squat
8xBar
8x155
8x245
8x335
8x385 (20lb P)
8x335
Box jumps
6x5
Reverse hyper 340
6x10
Notes: 3:45 between sets. Been limping since Murph and the hip has been twingy, but felt good enough to squat. I had a little more for that topset, but given the circumstances, I think it went as well as it could. Going to see how things feel over the next few days.
Woke up at 195.2.
LATE AM WORKOUT
5k run
26:23
Notes: Something my work put on, which timed out well with this being the month I’m in running shape. I beat out everyone (which was a crowd of 12ish), to include some young guns who should definitely NOT get beaten by the 33 year old dude with a blown out knee. Definitely wasn’t pushing the pace too hard on it: just taking it leisurely. Moments like this always make me think of keeping running in my training, but there’s just so much I want to do and not enough time to do it.
Run shorter distance like 1 mile or 1 KM, try to beat previous times.
Thanks man. It’s not the programming I’m too worried about as it is the opportunity cost. That time spent on the 1 mile run is time that could be spent on another activity.

Do you still have that treadmill? Doing something like 100-200 meters between sets of something else could be brutal
Thought of you when I saw this, ha!

@theonecamko Too true! I’ve always said it’s like turning on “God Mode” in life.
@oldbeancam That sounds a bit like Dan John’s writing on the Litvinov workout, which I’ve always wanted to do. I’d go with a prowler. Biggest limiting factor I’ve seen is shoes. The shoes I can run in aren’t the ones I can lift in, and vice versa, and it’d mean a lot of downtime changing in and out between sets, which is typically the time I spend changing plates/setting up the next exercise. If I ever spring for some 5 fingers, I might be able to pull it off, but still runs into an opportunity cost issue.
@Despade Hah! Although I think ingesting the swords will quell the existential horror…

DB lateral raise 20lbs
2x15
3x12
Notes: 3:45 between heavy sets of pressing, 2:00 between giant sets. Feels like I’ve passed my life through my colon these past 2 days. Think the kid brought home a bug, because they’re not doing so hot either. Still, that topset of 10 was the smoothest I’ve ever done, and I JUST about had an 11th on the grind but lost position on it. I’ve absolutely conquered pressing my bodyweight overhead for 10, so that’s pretty cool. Everything else felt pretty awful, but getting through is a victory. Cut out curls, since I’ll be running Murph again on Sunday and know it’ll do more than enough to trash my arms. Once that is done, I need to get in more backwork in my program.
Woke up at 195.8. Had the day off work, so treated myself to 2 small ribeye steaks totaling about 1lb for lunch, and then some Taco Bell for dinner.
Always wanted to see someone do this as written.
I think the Litvinov, 405 squat to 400m run is the most epic sounding thing ever, but the setup it would require seems pretty rare
405lb front squat from memory.
So 1 x 400m track
1 x 405lb loaded Olympic bar.
3 rounds of:
1 Powerclean
8 front squats
400m sprint (sub 75s)
If I ever achieved that, I would consider myself to be in pretty unreal physical shape.
Woah
this is added to the life goals list.
It was 405 for 8, haha. Just nuts
Edit: Realized you already said that. Well damn. Still amazing.
It’s the 3 rounds that gets me. Let’s assume I’m magically strong enough to front squat 4 plates 8 times, and then mentally strong enough to drag my ass round 400m at speed. I still don’t get how you duplicate that 3 times.
