1 mile run
100 pull ups
200 push ups
300 squats
1 mile run
All while wearing 21lb vest
Time: 1 hour, 3 minutes, 06 seconds
Notes: 3 minute improvement over last year, which I’m really happy with considering I couldn’t walk 2 days ago. Run that mile in 8:35, took 16 minutes to get through all the pull ups, and started the second mile at 52 minutes in. We ran in the snow today, because this place is silly and we asked the question “Would Murph have run in the snow” and the answer was “yes”.
I’m going to do this one more time over Memorial Day weekend. Might go without the vest to set a different time, but we’ll see.
@mr.v3lv3t Thanks dude! Brian has been such a positive force in the community that I wanted to contribute in SOME way. Plus, I always felt sad for him having to use those Rogue axles.
@simo74 Much appreciated dude. One down, one more Murph to go…
Treated myself to sleeping in this morning, because I felt absolutely hammered. Woke up at 196.4. Uploaded a video from my previous deadlift workout of 405+chains double overhand without a belt as one of my warm-up sets, just so people will shut up about belts and straps making your grip and core weak.
Notes: 3:45 between sets. Jacked up the set up on the first set of the day and hit the j-hooks early. Otherwise would’ve had 10. Fixed it and had a great set after. Benching 2 days after Murph is a special kind of awful, but by the end I felt great. Good to get the blood flowing.
Not finished, but I haven’t been running it for 4 months or so. With Murph and my fitness test in May, it was time to drop some weight. I’ll be moving in July, and once I’m established I intend to run it again in the fall. I also bought the Deep Water Badass program, and I MAY give it a run if I can find a way to fit the workouts in an hour, but that’ll be a tall order looking at it.
And thanks for the accolades. It’s my third year running it. I’m doing it again this Sunday with the Mrs, and then I’ll be done for another year.
Nah, the opposite. MUCH more volume, longer training days, and completely different programming approach. It’s still similar as far as a squat/dead day, press day, back day and bench day, but there’s a lot more variation going on.
That’s where to find it. I paid $67. A little miffed, because it was on sale for $47, I was ready to pull the trigger, then went on a 2 day work trip, came back and it had gone up, but such is life. You get a LOT of material.
@liftangryordie500 I am an unabashed axle elitist, haha. Ironmind or Pipe. And I may actually have the luxury of a window in my next gym, so that’ll be something.
Ah, gotcha. I want it, but I’m pretty strapped right now to spend 70 on it. One day soon though I’ll pick it up. His live streams on YouTube have me intrigued since I already do things like deadlifts super setted with AMRAP pull ups and shit.
